Just not at a Chik Fil-A

Today was one of those days that was like, is this week ever going to end??? The sad thing is this is my Monday and when I was looking at July's calendar I have only been in the office for 5 days. That's bad, the rest of it was either with my back, trainings I was attending or meetings. It wasn't a good day either because I had to justify stuff that I didn't have any justifications for. I know one thing, 48 months can't come soon enough after today. It was grueling.

My allergies have been bothering me the last two days and tonight I almost feel like I am coming down with a cold. Man, I hope not. I can't afford to be coming down with anything. Tomorrow I am going to pick up some juice and other stuff to ward it off. Will probably contact my buddy Craig and see what kind of health food items I can buy to get rid of anything coming my way. He's a wealth of information and cracks me up. Gotta talk nice about him because he read's these crazy ass blogs and enjoys them, so there ya go. You can tell a real friend when they read your blogs and enjoys them.

I was reading the news on CNN and seeing if there was a topic I could write about in here and the first thing I came across was the Chik Fil-A controversy. Okay, number one I would think that it would be bad business to voice your religious, political or any other opinion. This touches so many other people besides the same sex marriage communities. This touches families that love their children no matter what and other individuals like myself that work within this population and feel strongly about this subject. I understand Mr. Cathy's opinions and I respect them because as my mom always said, "That's one man's opinion." but feel that this is not a good judgement call on his part as a business man. I can see where this will hurt his business because Christian people have children that are same sex couples too so.... I don't know and am not going to get into this hot and heavy because I am not a real controversial type of person. For those of you that are not sure what took place, Mr. Cathy voiced that he was against same sex marriages. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but how smart of a choice was it for him to make that kind of a statement.

Now granted, it hasn't changed my opinion on Chik Fil-A. I never liked their food and I am weening myself off all fast food restaurants. I know that fast food restaurants are not healthy and they do not do anything for me on trying to get this excess weight off. What that all boils down too, I would drive past a Chik Fil-A to find anything else. Burger King, McDonald's, Fazoli's. Anything is better than Chik Fil-A in my opinion. When I worked in Independence I would go to the food court in the mall before I'd go to Chik Fil-A or as a former co-worker of mine would call it. Chik A Lick. It'll always be Chick A Lick to me!!!

I am going to have to start going to bed earlier. I had a rough time waking up this morning. My ole bed down here felt really, really good. I love that bed. Anyway, I will talk to you guys tomorrow.

La Te Da

Went to the Dentist today. I haven't been for a while and really liked this one. I went to the one that Brandon and Terry goes to in Harrisonville. I really don't like going but they were good. My teeth look good, no cavities and considering how long it's been since I've been they told me the plaque really wasn't bad. Of course need to brush better than I have been. I'm all into the fast and sweet method and of course they told me I need to work on the gums more. Oh well.

I am back down here to Springfield this week. It seems like forever since I've been here, most of July anyway. Can't say I've really missed it. I have been looking on line for somewhere to move, my lease is up in December and some of you are probably like, well that's a long way away. It really isn't. 4 months away. Even though I won't move yet I want to see what is out there. I am going to start looking now.

Not much going on today. Things are quiet. Talk to you guys tomorrow.

Teach your children well

How do you like my little penguin with the date and time??? I thought he was adorable. One thing about it, when I check other blogs I find some cool like gadgets. I am starting to get bored with my background but will probably keep it for a while. I took the pineapple upside down cake recipe off, need to center those pictures above but haven't tried that yet. It's okay though. Of course I am always saying I am going to do the Web page design stuff, just haven't. Will though.

110* is what my car said it was today and that was at 6pm. This heat is terrible. I worry about people that are out in it. The homeless, the one's working in it and people that don't have air conditioning. Man, it is hot, hot, hot.

We had a really good lunch. Terry (bless his heart) cooked pork steaks out on the grill. Before he put them on the grill he salted and peppered both sides. Then sprinkled Worcestershire Sauce on both sides and placed them on the grill. Can I say, "OH MY GOSH"!!! They were delicious. I made a killer salad with my pear yellow tomatoes from my plant. They were really good. Baked some french fries and put Stormin' Norman's Sweet Smoke BBQ rub on them, after putting them in a bag with the Rice Bran oil in there too. They were pretty good too.

The day is almost over for this girl and even though we haven't done much, once I look back over everything I've done a lot. A friend of mine would get so upset when you'd ask someone what they did and they said nothing. He'd say, "You did something. You didn't just sit around in a chair and do absolutely nothing." I did a lot but it was all in a days duties.

Posted a post on my wall that says, "I don't understand why people think having a gay child means they failed as a parent. Disowning your child means you failed as a parent." I cannot tell you how many young men I have seen ostracized from their family because of their choices. And that makes you a good parent, what happened to unconditional love??? These families come from the bible belt of the USA and are doing what God has told them to do. Whatever!!! Not going into that rant and rage but people are people. Love everyone, especially your children!!!

Well, going to bed, gotta go to Springfield tomorrow. Leaving Terry and Josh to hold the fort down this week. I will be home Friday so everything is good. Talk to you tomorrow.

It's Hard but it'll be worth it!!!

Why is it so hard to change habits? I know what I need to do to change but it is so hard. We ran up to Nebraska Furniture Mart today and on the way home stopped at Terry's favorite buffet. Ryan's. Started out doing good. Made me a big salad, then second course consisted of meat and vegetables. Was doing pretty good with that but the warm dinner roll with honey butter always gets me every time. Then I thought I'd get me a small dish of ice cream. I love Ryan's ice cream, the texture is so smooth and the taste is wonderful. Heading up there and they sat out a fresh pan of bread pudding. Another one of my weaknesses. Got a small piece along with some ice cream. didn't eat all the ice cream but inhaled the bread pudding. Of course that is all I ate all day. I have got to get into the exercise regime though. My Dr. told me it wouldn't be real easy and she was right.

Ran over to my friends house Carole today. We have got to get us a printer for our computers. Brandon took it to Springfield with him for college, when he leaves though we will get it back. Anyway we printed off our airline tickets. We are going on a trip in October and can't wait. Really wanted to take the boys somewhere before Brandon leaves for China but not sure if we will be able to or not!!! We'll see, the boys really want to do something.

We ran up to Nebraska Furniture Mart today and I got me a Kitchen-aid mixer. The professional 600 series. I'm excited. I've wanted one for years and have never gotten one and now I have it. We also got a TV for the bedroom and a daybed for the middle bedroom. I want to make that room into an office so I'm excited about that too. They are to deliver it on 8/10. Can't wait. We're looking for a floor clock aka Grandfather Clock. The ones we saw on line that we wanted they didn't have them at the store. Imagine that. The one we wanted on line is under $1000 and the ones they had on the floor was anywhere from $1200-$5000. That's surprising!!! :o)

Well, I have been reading Low-Carb Dieting for Dummies. Going to have to wrap my head around all of this and get it taken care of. The only person that is going to be able to do it is me. Going to have to get my husband to quit sabotaging me. LOL. He isn't the one to blame, I am. It's just easier to blame him. No one can change my eating habits but myself. I have lost 10 pounds since I've started all this, and if I would exercise it would make a difference. Of course 100*+ weather is another factor. Oh well, it will be okay.

Tomorrow we are going to cook on the grill so everything will be pretty good hopefully. Will run to the store in the morning and get some veggies to have. Talk to you guys tomorrow night. It's going to be a long night tonight. I am so tired and want to go to bed now but it's to early.

Facing Challenges

The big news in our household tonight is the Los Angeles Angels now have signed Zack Greinke as pitcher on their team. He was our pitcher for KC Royals and left in 2010, winning the American League Cy Young with the Royals. He is an awesome pitcher and we were bummed when in 2010 he asked the Royals to trade him, reporting he was not motivated to play for a rebuilding team. Not that we blamed him because he was awesome. He went to the Brewers and played there for about a year.

Tonight Terry received a call from his son in California telling us that his beloved Angels signed Greinke on. Terry told Jeremy he was going to have to send him an Angels hat, he supposed. LOL. This is pretty big news though if you are an avid Royals fan as my husband is.

It is so good being home tonight. Watered my plants but they really didn't need it as bad as I thought they would. The rain this week helped them out. I planted some daylilies in a pot that I had dug up in my flower garden in Garden City and they are doing good, of course they didn't bloom this year but will next. Well, I had put some flower seeds in the pot too. Can't remember what the flowers were or anything but they are growing and are beautiful in the pot. I love it when I can grow things from seeds. My canna's and my marigolds are doing good too. I'm excited.

My beloved Missouri Conservationist was delivered in the mail this week. It is a free magazine for Missouri residents and I look forward each month when I receive it. As I was flipping through the pages today I came across an article on Glade Coneflowers. I have been thinking about growing native plants in our landscape since they are a sure fire plant that would make it in these drought conditions we have been dealt. Anyway, the magazine had an article on Glade Coneflowers and the benefits the plant has for insects such as butterflies and bees. I like the idea that American goldfinches are attracted to them in the late summer when the heads of the flower go to seed. I love birdwatching, am I becoming an old lady???? The author of the article said that the flowers are very easily transplanted in the fall but can also be planted from seed. The only thing I didn't like about the sound of growing them from seed, it will take a few years for the plant to mature and bloom. Bummer. Since I am not a very patient type of person for that I am going to have to see if anyone has some that they are willing to thin out their flowerbeds and see if I can get some starts from them. Of course the "Glade" part of the name, I may not be able to grow anything like that here, since I am not close to any glade's. We do have cone flowers here though because I have seen them. I love those flowers.

Whelp, I am heading outta here. I will write more tomorrow. I think we are heading to Kansas City, shopping for a few items for our house. Will write about our excursions tomorrow. Good night everyone.

It just makes me sad!!!

The rains finally fell and we are seeing a little relief today. Terry said that they received a little over an inch of rain which is more than we've gotten in at least 3 months. Temps are around 95* and it is cooler than the 106* weather we had yesterday. This weather is so brutal but we aren't use to this kind of weather, so it is worse on us. My friend in the Kansas City area, her mailman died in her front yard from a heat stroke. Man, that is something else!!!

I've been a little melancholy this week upon hearing the news that the current-events magazine Weekly Reader has retired and no longer will be a classroom fixture. The news said that the Weekly Reader has been in circulation since 1928. I can remember as a little girl, I couldn't wait to get my Weekly Reader. I loved it and had forgotten about it until I heard the news on the radio this week. Josh got the little magazine too while he was in grade school but I don't remember him getting that many. Of course they were probably crumbled up and shoved to the back of his desk along with all his other papers and homework. Oh well, good bye Weekly Reader, I loved you so.

Last night on the news in St. Louis they were reporting that the Mississippi River is so low that the barge's are not running at full capacity, they are carrying half the freight that they usually haul and that in Memphis they are checking the barge's and making sure they can make it down or up the river. Someone was saying this morning at breakfast that they heard that the river 50' below what it usually is. I know when I went over the Missouri River bridge I couldn't believe how low the Missouri River is now. It's something else.

Well, I'm outta here. I'm tired, of course. Talk later.

It's been an experience!!!

I have been in St. Louis the last two days and have to say I absolutely love downtown St. Louis. We are staying at the Drury Inn on the Convention Plaza and it is really a nice place. The Cardinals are in town so the hotel is full with families, Dodgers fans and Cardinals fans.

Last night I went to an Irish pub and met two fellow St. Louis co-workers that no longer work for our Bureau. One retired and the other one moved on to other venues and is a physical therapist. It was so good to see them and catch up on everything. Vonda is a hoot and a hollar and we have so much history together with meetings. Marge is a sweetheart and we usually drug her around with us at some points. I miss those two but like I said, it was so good to catch back up with them. Like I said in one of my later posts, it is nice to catch up with old friends when you haven't seen them for a while.

Tonight after the meeting 5 of us met in the lobby of the hotel for appetizers and drinks before we went to a Sushi Bar. I have never been to an actual Sushi restaurant or bar. 3 of them helped myself and the other one with the ordering because we didn't know what we wanted. Sushi doesn't always mean it is raw, there is cooked, smoked and fried foods in Sushi. It was delicious. I have to say I am a fan, even had a Seaweed Salad. I know some of you are going to say, "OMG, SEAWEED SALAD???" Well, if you like greens or salads you will like this salad. I loved the dressing. They wouldn't let us eat with anything but chopsticks and I have to tell you, after a while I got quite good at it. Of course they had ordered Sake for us to drink so after a few of those I was getting pretty good at everything!!! LOL.

Well, tomorrow is my last day here. Like I said, it has been good but wow. I have alot of work to get caught back up on but it will be okay. Was going to work on it tonight but to much Sake to care. LOL. I will talk to you guys tomorrow night and maybe a little more interesting.

One day ends so another can begin!!!

Not much to be said tonight. No issues pressing on me anyway. Just dealing with things that will be eventually be over with, hopefully soon. Like I've said before nothing to do with Terry and I. He's still the love of my life, just children. Gotta love em, to long in prison if you kill them!!!

It is what it is and that too will pass. It will all be fine!!! Will be glad when 6 months from now is here!!! Growing up is hard to do but being a parent isn't to easy either!!! No manual's to tell you how to do it and if you are doing it right!!!

Well, getting ready to get up early in the morning and head to St. Louis for meetings for 3 days. Just between us there are times I can't wait to retire and right now is one of those. Some days I'm like, not sure if I'll retire or not and then there are other days that I am like, WILL I EVER MAKE IT 49 MONTHS???? They say that is a sure fire burnout when you have retirement counted down by months. Don't have days, hours, minutes and seconds yet but it's getting close. LOL. Probably not, and I am sure lots of people are like this when they get close to retirement. I'm thinking those that love their job and wouldn't change it for no amount of money are prescribed a hell of a lot better drugs than what my Dr. is prescribing to me and I need to know what your meds are so I can get me a stash too!!! Especially those that work in the same Bureau as I do.

Went out and watered the plants finally tonight and some of them are looking pretty bad. Marigolds that are drought resistant didn't withstand my drought much. LOL. They are forgiving though and came back out of it pretty good!!! I couldn't believe the cracks in the yard and the dirt pulling away from our foundation. This drought is something else.

Love me some Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Saw a good, good friend the other day at the Chiropractor. Can't remember if I told you guys or not but it was Flynn Avery. Flynn and I worked together in the Independence office. He is a blue's man from way back and he really educated me on who is good and who is so, so. He'd tell me different venue's I needed to go see when they were in town. When I saw him he said he went to Chicago to visit a cousin and went to a three day concert up there that was free. He said it was bad ass. I am going to start going again, since I've been in Springfield and all I have been missing out on my concert venues and blues. I'm feeling it right now because it is like a vacation for me because music has and always will speak to my soul!!! Southern Rock, Blue's, you name it I love it. This has got to be one of the most beautiful instrumentals ever written by an individual!!!

Really needed this. I have my earplugs in, youtube pulled up and clicked on Kenny Wayne Shepherd tracks, it has like 90 of his songs in a roll. Allman Brother's band does the same thing to me as does Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood. Sometimes I get into the Christian mode and want to listen to Third Day, Mandesa, Toby Mac. Ya just never know what kind of mood I will be in and when I will be in it. LOL.

Well, I am going to sign off. Gotta pack and pack the car tonight. Will probably leave around 6am because I need to be in St. Louis by 11. Hope to make it by then but should. Will try and write a bit tomorrow night. Going to meet some old friends for supper tomorrow after my meeting though. Can't wait, Vonda is a good, good buddy of mine!!! We've got some stories to tell. LOL. Marge is just a sweetheart. Any hoots, talk tomorrow people.

And that's the way it is!!!

Day was good but busy. I can't say I have really been outside all day long. Did let Lamar out a couple of times but to go anywhere, no. Didn't do it. It is hot out, I know and I really, really need to water my plants and am not feeling that so much either. Oh well, going to have to suck it up.

Have been asked what you use Rice Bran Oil for and that they haven't ever heard of it. It is quite expensive in the grocery store if you can even find it and I came across it at the little store in the country I was talking about yesterday. It is like canola oil but healthier. Plus you can heat it at higher temperatures and it won't smoke and burn. It makes fabulous fried chicken. It has like a 490* Smoke Point and you can also use it as a salad oil. The label says, "Research has shown the nutritional properties of rice bran oil may lower LDL cholesterol levels without lowering HDL, the good cholesterol. It is a good source of gamma oryzanol, antioxidants and vitamin E Complex." They have a website at Rice Bran Oil

I told Terry we sure had a house full today. I made Fried Chicken, Biscuits, Baked Beans, Deviled Eggs, Zucchini and Eggplant sauteed in butter with onions and garlic, raw cauliflower; sliced red pepper; sliced green pepper; baby carrots; and sweet tea. Patsey came by and ate before heading home and afterwards she ate a piece of sugar free strawberry pie with sugar free cool whip. It was all so good. Then our friend came by with a flat of some of the best fresh tomatoes. I sent Patsey home with some and then my girlfriend Nadine came by and sent her home with tomatoes too. It is so nice having everyone coming by.

I am sickened and saddened by the shooting in Aurora but I am getting tired hearing about it. I know for the next few days that is all the news media is going to have on their channels. Reporters interviewing survivors and asking questions that are so inappropriate. I loved a quote by Bill Maher, "I haven't had time to stop hating the last trigger happy asshole in the news before the new one came along."

Well, I guess we are going to watch a movie, not sure. We've tried to watch it several times. 21 Jump Street. I will talk to you tomorrow everyone.

All In a Day

Got up this morning and enjoyed my morning coffee with my friend Patsey. She headed out to other adventures this morning and will be back tomorrow for Sunday dinner. It has been so nice seeing her and visiting with her. She is starting a new adventure in her life and it is so scary but she is going to rock because that is the way she is. She has such strong support here in Missouri and this is where she needs to be!!! Can't wait to see her tomorrow.

Waited around for Josh and he finally came up and we ran to Lee's Summit to get some things done that needed to be done. Of course we can't do anything until Monday morning. He has been working on his truck, getting it ready for the adventure he has started. He is now in the MillWright Union, starting last Wednesday, and I am so proud of him. He loves his job and this adventure is going to be a very positive career for him as long as he keeps his head and doesn't do anything else stupid. He seems to be growing up at times and then BAM!!! He does something stupid. Prayers is all I can ask, wisdom for both him and I.

While we were in Lee's Summit we ran over to Salvation Army Thrift Store. He needs to find long sleeve shirts to work in and all he has is winter ones. He found a really nice Key denim work shirt for $3. Told him that is what it's all about, going to thrift stores and finding awesome buys for practically nothing. I'll have to keep an eye out when I hit the stores too.

We then ran to "Five Guys" and ate one of the most awesome hamburgers you have ever sank your teeth into. I love their burgers. It is a chain here in KC area but not sure if it is all over or not. You have got to check them out. I am not to crazy about homemade french fries so I don't order them but Josh did. I ate a few and they were good but the burger was so big it filled me up. Of course the handful of peanuts in the shell I munched on before we got our burgers filled me up too.

When I got home I asked Terry if he wanted to run down by Rockville MO with me so I can pick up some Rice Bran Oil and a few spices I have been out of. He said sure, he didn't have a clue to what he had in store. It was such a nice drive, just to get out of the house. We both love just going on a drive. This place is called, "Down Home Butcher Shop & Spice Store Plus". He has about every spice, rubs, marinade, and several specialties. It is so worth the trip. When you get there you wonder what the heck your getting into and then walk through the doors and you are in the mecca of spices and such. The business card says "Home of over 10,000 spices". The address is 4465 NW 1001 Road, Rockville MO 64780. No hours, the man that owns it lives there. He's always open. Gotta check it out people.

Well, gotta go. Late and I'm tired. I'll talk to you tomorrow sometime.

Friday, July 20, 2012

You know when I woke up this morning and heard about but one more horrific assault on young, innocent people my heart sank. The news teams are saying that this tragedy is the worse shooting in America. I'm thinking they all are equally terrible, no matter if it is a drive by shooting taking innocent people, a gunman at the Gabby Gifford shooting taking so many lives or if it is 911 Terrorist attacks. I prayed for everyone involved in last nights shooting, the injured, the families of the injured, the medical personnel, staff at the movie theater and even the 24 year old suspect and his family, James Holmes. I agree on something that I read today, our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the evil in this dark world.

Another time that I don't know what the answer is. I am not 100% sold on gun control because I believe that guns and ammo can be bought by anyone that wants it because of the black market. How do we keep guns out of the hands of people like this, I don't think there is an answer to that. Like I said, I don't know what the answer is. I know one thing, I don't agree with the Republican Representative from Texas, he said that he didn't understand why 3-4 of them didn't pull out their guns and shoot back. SERIOUSLY??? I couldn't believe that came out of his mouth. What stupidity. Like I said, I don't know what the answer is but don't get me started on the conceal and carry that is out now. I know someone that has one that does not need to possess any such thing like that. He is a nut and has road rage like you can't believe and I could see him pull out his gun and shoot someone for no uncertain reasoning.

Well, sorry for those of you that have been waiting for my post, my girlfriend came by tonight and is spending the night and we have been talking away. We haven't seen each other for 2 years but with computer technology seems like only yesterday. I will post more tomorrow. Night.

Rich People

Well, things are beginning to fall together pretty good, sometimes you wonder though when you are going through the tough times but the saying goes as such, "If God brings you to it He will help you through it." or something like that. I just wish it was a year from now and everything was okay. I know I am talking in jimble jamble but it's all good. :o)

You know, I often wonder why I stress and worry about things that I have no control over. I have no control over other people's reactions and when I worry about the way they are going to react I am thinking how I would react, meaning they might not react like I do. I just need to Let Go and Let God. Practice what you preach sister.

Not really sure what to write about tonight. Nothing really happened that was noteworthy today. Plus I can only beat the topic of the underserved in society to a point that you will stop reading my blogs. Even though my audience is small, I do get comments off of you. Lots have told me they read my blogs because they are more into the fast status updates as is in Facebook. Whatever.

Terry is watching the show "The Hutterites". This is a different concept of a sect for me to wrap my mind around. A little like the Amish is a different sect for me to understand. They creep me out a little and am not sure why. They always have. There is a community that have moved down to Lowry City area and live. There are a couple of people that post on Facebook about having them do things for them around the house and sounds to me like they use them for slave labor. I am sure they don't pay them what they should and have them do chores around the house, weed flower beds, gardens, build fence and such. Heck, I'd love to do a huge garden if I could hire a bunch of Amish to come in and weed for me. Sounds a lot like slave labor to me but what do I know.

Watching a commercial about a new show coming on called "American Gypsies" and they were carrying a sheep into their house. Reminded me of a time I lived in Pittsburg Ks. It was around 1980. We had some Middle Eastern college students living across the street from us and they had goats in their yard. Some days there was a goat missing until eventually there were no goats over there. I'm thinking they slaughtered them and ate them. Gross. They always creeped me out too.

Welp, I'm gonna hang it up and go to bed. Am going to have to start picking a subject to write about I guess. Seems my audience is a lot larger when I have a good subject and of course a killer title to enhance them. Sometimes that's easy, sometimes it's tough. Oh well, Good night.

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Damn you.

It was hot today. The outside temperature gauge in my car read 106* today at 2. It was 104* at 6pm. Hot, hot, hot. I'd still rather have that than the ice and cold.

Sometimes I wish life wasn't the way it is. I wish 11 year old little girls wouldn't come across my desk with positive STD's, I wish daddy's, grandpa's, uncle's, moms boyfriend's wouldn't sexually molest little boys and little girls. I wish people would realize that the problem in this world today is not whether gays marry, Obama or Romney gets president, that it isn't the end of the world if we get healthcare for people that need it and cannot afford it. I wish people would just shut up for one minute and take a look at what we are truly dealing with. There is no way that anyone can do this unless they stop, go to the streets and talk to the people. Open your eyes. In my heart everyone needs to work in the public service field for a year to realize what is actually happening today. I have heard about 3 cases today, one was a sexual assault incest case, another was a sexual assault with a young adult and the last one was an 11 year old that had gonorrhea and chlamydia that consented to the assault. She would stand there sucking her thumb as she was talked to by the DIS and only shrug when asked a question. What is wrong with this world. What makes people do the things they do??? We can't blame it on TV, news media,we have to blame it on society. I just want to run into the streets screaming STOP-P-P-P-P!!! I am so sick of people trying to tell me how bad someone or something is and they don't have a clue!!! Get your head out of the sand people and get out of your comfort zone and take a look at the way it really is.

I want you to explain to me one more time how a same sex couple that are successful in their careers, kind, loving and good people are perverts because they want to become a union of one. I know what it says in the bible and I know all the biblical passages that you can show me but I still cannot wrap my head around why they are bad examples for children but the main perverts out there that the courts give the children back to, are not looked at in the way that you look at same sex couples. I don't know, I realize I am butting my head against the wall but people are people and God made them as he has me, and I am not going to be throwing any stones to any one unless it is the real perverts. The one's that rape, sexually molest, commit sodomy and incest. Those are the real perverts, not a loving couple that work hard for a living and are strong public figures within society. I pray for you and will continue so.

As you can tell, I am in a mood. Not sure if it is the heat, the last few cases I have gotten or everything else that is going through my life right now but I am so sick and tired of all this. Nothing I can say or do is going to change anyone's opinion but it makes me feel a little better saying it. Of course I love my mom's saying whenever someone would say something about a topic or opinion. "That's one man's opinion." and yes it is, just like this is my opinion. :o)

Tired, Stressed and going to Bed.

Tired and stressed and going to bed. That's it and nothing more. Learned a lot today and will learn more tomorrow. Back, neck and head hurt. Probably from being tired, stressed and going to bed. LOL. Talk more tomorrow.

Friends

Did something today, not sure what compelled me to do so but glad I did. First I called a dear friend of mine, Dee. We roomed together for about a year before I moved in with Terry. She was a lifesaver for me and we became really good friends. We have been busy with our lives and haven't seen each other for about a year but are still in each others hearts and thoughts. I am going to make an attempt to at least visit with her once a month. She is a good, good friend and like she always likes to say, "it's a hoot and a hollar" when we get together.

Then I got ready to come to Jefferson City, drove through Garden City on my way down and stopped by to see another dear friend and we can't even remember the last time we saw each other. Probably a couple of years ago. No reason, just busy. It was so good visiting with Alicia too. Her daughter Destiny is selling Sonic cards so I am going to run down there Friday to buy one from Destiny. Her family was another wonderful refuge for me to get away from the unhappy life I was in. I could just walk down to her house anytime of the day needed to just get away from the craziness and sadness I had subjected myself into. I love Alicia and Bill and should be shot for not keeping in touch with them but like with Dee. I am going to make an attempt to keep in contact with them more too.

Why do we do this to ourselves. I should have learned when I hadn't seen one of my good friends for over a year. I went by and visited with her for a short time after not seeing her for so long. It was so good to see her and I told her I was going to make an attempt to come see her more. Less then a month later I went to a tractor pull in Garden City and my son and his best friend came up to me and told me Michelle had been killed in a head on collision that day. My heart fell to the pit of my stomach. You know that hand you can hold up and count your very best, sister, girlfriends. She was the one on that hand. I don't have many that share that hand and it kills me to loose a friend like that.

I need to take care of myself and my friends. I have a vast array of friends in my life and some I have not seen forever. I am going to work on this this year. We don't know how long we have on this earth and should make the best of it. I'm not sure what has brought me to these thoughts tonight but I am feeling very melancholy. Again, not sure why, just am.

One of my friends, Carole, had to put her best friend to sleep today. Her beagle Beatrice. I am not sure how old she was but it was way over 10. Bea and Carole would argue like a mother and her child. I am sad for Carole and everyone that Bea touched . Our dogs are our family. If you haven't had one you don't know what you are missing. A pet makes you whole. Sometimes they can be a pain but they are your pain and no one else's. I know how I will feel when our pets leave us, just as I have felt in the past when my pets moved on. Sad.

Well, I am going to get off here. Love you guys and make the most out of your life you can.

Swing low, Sweet Chariot

I'm thinking I'm on the mend. Feeling a lot better. Have to go to Doc tomorrow around 930 and then will go see him on Friday too.

Watered plants, rested and made lunch. That's about all we did. I tried something on Terry and of course he loved it. I sauteed garlic, zucchini and mushrooms in my iron skillet. It was good, I have to admit. He told me to keep on keeping on. LOL!!!

Gary Sinise (Captain Dan) has a band called The Lieutenant Dan Band that he toured with that entertains troops getting ready to go over to Iraq. It's very interesting show on Documentary channel. We enjoy our music.

Well, not much going on through this little pea brain today. Sometimes I wish I had something to write on when the spirit takes me there. Only problem is I can be anywhere that thoughts start flowing out and I am like, rock on, I am going to write that in my blog and then when I sit down to write I can't remember what it was let alone have the passion I had when it first hit me. Oh well, I'll figure something out

I will talk to you guys tomorrow. Good night and may blessing be upon you!!!

It's a Quiet One.

Happiness does not depend on your circumstances. It's a choice that you make. This is one of many Joel Olsteen quotes that I post during the day on my Facebook page. No one can make you happy besides yourself and if you cannot make that happen, then you need to find a way to make you that way. No, I do not mean drugs and alcohol but either talk to a professional about it or go to your Dr. and get some antidepressants. I have done both many a time in my life and it helps. Life will always be crazy but it helps you deal with the crazies that life deals you. I know one particular person that through the crazies that are messing with her she has ostracized herself from her children's life. It is sad that this has happened because she needs them as bad as they have needed her through their entire life. Oh well, as I have said many a time in the past, we all have demons that mess with us and some refuse or can't find a way to get rid of them.

The house is very quiet tonight compared to the way it was all week. It is nice having a house full but also very nice to have it back to the way we enjoy it. We were told last night that we were boring, well hate to break the news to them but we're old. We enjoy boring!!! We look forward to boring. Plus with my back the way it has been boring is very good. LOL.

Hooked up with a really close friend today and we went to the Dollar General and then to the grocery store. After being cooped up all week in the house the excursion was nice, except for all the people that were there. There was this little girl and her parents that was adorable. She was probably around 3-4, picking out her Nestle Quik. Now this was some serious consideration here. Her daddy was so good with her and so patient. It was adorable.

The Royals are playing again tonight and we get to flip between WGN (the Chicago ) and the KC Station to see what each sports announcer is saying when Escobar hit's one more home run over the fence. LOL. Hard core there!!!

Well, I'm heading out. I'm thinking it is going to be an early night. I am tired tonight and last night was a much better sleep. I could even get out of bed without rolling out onto my knees on the floor. Yeah me. I usually have a pretty high tolerance to pain but this was a different ball of wax. I will talk to you guys later and hope your evening is a wonderful one.

Windows are Rolled Down

When I started this blog I didn't really know what I wanted to do. I still don't but I just write about whatever I want to write about when I sit down to blog. I notice some days I have 25 hits and other days I have only 12 hits. Averaging around 20 or so. I still believe that I need to either have a theme or else work more on my writing skills and have an informational blog or website. I will one of these days, maybe. Like I've always said, I'll figure out what I want be when I grow up one of these days.

Went to the Chiropractor this morning. Go back Monday and may need to make another appointment for next Friday. I want to try and get my health back to running order. I am such a procrastinator when it comes to taking care of myself. I always have been, I think it is probably because my mom had me to the Dr. all the time when I was growing up and I hated it. Except one thing I enjoyed. You would get a piece of Bazooka Joe bubble gum from him after you saw him. I always couldn't wait to see what my cartoon was and there was always a little piece of wisdom at the bottom of the piece of paper. I always loved getting that gum. Only thing I really remember about Bazooka Joe was the dude with the turtle neck up around his face to the bottom of his eyes and he had a goofy hat. He looked a little like the "Where's Waldo" guy.

It's been a good week even though my back has been out. It was good being home and having a house full. We've had both boys here all week. It's just nice and the pets have absolutely loved it. I don't think Tux and Lamar have left Brandon's side since he's been here and Lamar has been tickled to death to have Josh here to run him ragged throwing his toys for him to fetch and bring back.

Terry is in 7th Heaven, Royals are back on from the All Star Game. Don't worry though, we've been listening to talk Sport Radio all week to keep up on the Billy Butler dilemma. Love that Billy Butler though, he is such a good person, him and his wife. Top of the 6th and the White Sox are ahead 6-5 but it's okay. We may have a crappy team but we love our players. We have some pretty good kids on our team. Gotta keep your allegiance to your hometown team. I've always believed that.

Tomorrow is going to be a different day. What I want to do and what I actually do is going to be two different stories. Because I may get up tomorrow and decide I don't want to do anything. Just wishing my back was back to 100% better but man, my neck and shoulders feel a lot better too. Dr. Acosta has been working me up really good this week. Wish I could make it everyday for the next month or two but can't. He'll get me back to working order though. He's a good chiropractor. I was thinking about changing to someone else after he gets me going but I don't know. May stick with him. We'll see.

Going to sign off. Josh has ran down to the house tonight and is going to bring "21 Jump Street" to watch. I've been wanting to see it. The new show I want to see now is "Ice Age: Continental Drift". Love those Ice Age movies. Still love my cartoons. Talk to you all tomorrow and hope you enjoy the song I posted. I listen to Alice 102, a KC radio Station that plays different music no matter the era and I always hear someone play something that I absolutely love. This is one. Enjoy.

Just a Question

As I am sitting here listening about Penn State's scandal and how the officials held the abuse Sandusky inflected on these poor little boys it makes me wonder. Would they be as outraged if it had been little girls he was sexually molesting? No, I don't think so. First of all I want to make one thing clear, no matter boy or girl it is a sick, sick individual that would do this to our youth. I just wonder if they would be as outraged if it is a little girl that is molested???

Not much going on. Of course I went to the chiropractor again today. I'm getting better, not 100% but better. Will be glad when it is done. I can reach to the floor, not fast or crazy but can bend down and pick something up.

Lots of exciting stuff happening right now in the family. Josh is getting ready to start his school to become an intern for the Millwright Union. Brandon is getting ready to go to China and teach at the MSU campus over there. Brandon's brother Josh is getting married to one of the nicest people I have ever met. She's always been so nice to me and I believe her and Madison (Josh's daughter) get along great and Brandon's other brother Jeremy in California is having a baby girl. How exciting is that???

I'm outta here. Talk to you later. Enjoy the video

Reaching Out

Here I am, just a little bit better. Well, a lot better. Last night was a bad time, I was really sore but the pain wasn't worse, Praise God. I decided with a lot of prompting from my husband and a friend or two to go to the Dr and get a muscle relaxer. Maybe I could sleep better tonight. I was all for that because I am tired of the shooting pain. Well, she not only gave me a muscle relaxer but 800mg Ibuprofen and it has really helped me relax tonight. After my adjustment today, I felt better too. Like I said, not 100% but better. I'm thinking I am on the road to recovery!!!

Went out and watered my plants tonight. Terry had to go turn the water on for me but I watered like a wild woman. It all worked out good. Couldn't lean down and deadhead the flowers or pick a few of the pear shaped tomatoes off the vine but was able to water. Lamar went out with me and was a happy camper from the get go!!!

Put a roast in the oven today and slow cooked it all day. Man it was tender and good. Didn't fix anything else, just the roast. Told Terry he could slice a tomato or something if he wanted but he didn't. We both have decided that we are going to change our diet and try not eating any more red meat. Of course we have a freezer full of red meat so will need to eat it down but told him I would start incorporating fish into our diet. Fish and lots of fruits and vegetables. Maybe a little chicken but mostly fish and fruits and veggies. Brandon said good luck with keeping dad on that and I told him there is no way I'll be able to keep him on it but at least while I'm home I have in on it. LOL.

As I am closing this out I want to ask prayers, suggestions, and just plan passing the word out and about. There is an organization that I have mentioned in some of my earlier posts, "Moccasin Mile Outreach", a young lady has taken on a handful of homeless Vets in the Springfield area and trying to find them a house to live in. These Vets were at an encampment that the Springfield police have disbanded. The police have been trying to "clean up" Springfield area of the homeless. These individuals are not your typical homeless, they have been this way because they have lost their homes, lost their jobs and just victims of circumstances that society has handed them. They are either waiting for disability or other income to come in so they can get off the streets. This young lady is trying to find housing that is affordable to get these individuals off the streets. She has been housing them in a motel right now and the money is running thin. If you want to help by just giving some good ideas or you know of some housing that would help here is the address: Moccasin Mile Outreach P. O. Box 150, Miller, MO 65707. I plan to help all I can and if you want send me the information and I will get it to the person it is needed. Prayers too, by the grace of God I'm not in this situation.

Well, I'm getting out of here. Talk to you guys tomorrow, just glad I am feeling better. Good night.

Good Night

Well, a little bit better tonight but not 100%. A little easier to get up out of a chair but still have spasms. I hate this and am tired of it. Have noticed a couple other things that were a little easier.

Had supper tonight with hamburgers and hot dogs cooked outside. i made my baked beans but put ground fried hamburger in it. Put KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce, molasses, liquid smoke, a little brown sugar and mixed it all together. The guys loved it so will have to do that more, once in a while.

We're watching the All-Star Game. American League isn't doing real good. I'm thinking I'll go to bed here in a few. I've been really tired all day. I slept pretty good last night but after laying one way all night long it makes me stiff and sore. Hard to get up but I eventually do.

Well, am going to bed. I'm tired, going to take a pain pill and call it the night. Good night everyone!!!

Free your mind...

Went to the Chiropractor today and he helped me some but gotta go back tomorrow. Still can't drive two hours to work and expect to make it just fine. Last night spasms were so bad it kept me and Terry both up most of the night. Lamar slept through it all. Glad it wasn't a burglar or anything, we'd be goners. LOL!!!

Terry and Josh are watching the Home Run Derby. Josh isn't going to be able to watch the All Star Game tomorrow night. He has orientation into his new job and of course it is tomorrow night. Oh well, I'm thinking he'd rather have a job!!!

If anyone is looking for a Chiropractor and are in the KC area, I recommend Dr. Joshua Acosta. I really like him, been going to him for a while. A co-worker of mine has been going to him forever too and really likes him. He remembered me when I said Glenda Gash but use to be Hastings. He's a sweetheart.

Well, going to go. Took a pain pill and the rest is history. Another good nights sleep to be had by all until it wears off, then it's tough.

The Day's been good.

Just got in from a walk. It is really nice outside, not sure what the temperature is but it has cooled off considerably. We got a little bit of rain last night but didn't amount to much but every little bit helps. Anyway it brought a cool front through. Terry ran down to Collin's MO this afternoon and said that between Lowry City and Osceola there was a rain downfall. Rained so hard he could hardly see. Wish we'd gotten some of that but we didn't. Oh well.

We didn't make it out to the hospital to see Terry's sister Patty. My back was hurting to bad to make it out there and Terry as I said had to run to Collins. She still needs lots of prayers guys, she is getting depressed and tired of being sick. Just wants them to find out what is going on.

I slept most of the day, Josh was here with me all afternoon until Terry got home. We ordered Pizza for lunch so no cooking was done. Like that surprises me. Terry wouldn't let me do any cooking even if I had to. It was so funny. His buddy called him to see if he wanted to come over to his house and watch the All-Star game Tuesday night, so Terry wouldn't have to watch it alone. Terry told him that my back is out and I will probably be home during the game and he said, "It's a bitch getting old." I go, "What did you say? The bitch is getting old???" LOL. it was hilarious and I could hear his buddy laughing on the other end of the phone.

Can hear the Cicada's chirping outside and when we were walking you could hear them even louder. That is always the signs to me that summer is drawing to a close. It use to make me depressed when I would hear them because it meant that winter was coming soon and that was a time of year that was hard on a single mother. Have back to school supplies and Christmas. Now not so depressing. It is what it is.

Well, I'm heading out. I'm getting tired and hopefully tomorrow will be a day that my back will be on the road to healing and I can quit whining about it. :o) OH, and take a moment to listen to this video. It doesn't last very long but the message is awesome!!! Talk to you guys tomorrow.

La La Land

Well, my back has gotten worse and will probably go to the chiropractor Monday and if it isn't better won't be making the trip to Springfield. It's hurting pretty bad today, can hardly get around. I took a pain pill about 20 minutes ago and let me tell you, I'm not feeling much pain right now and will probably go to bed after I finish this. La, la land is where I'm at right now!!!

Went to the hospital this morning and sat with Patty when the Dr. came around. They still don't know what is going on but want to finish the round of antibiotic to see if that will take the lesions off the liver. If not then they will have to look at something else. She was in a better mood today then last night, but she's getting tired of being in the hospital. Keep remembering her in prayers though, she's needing them. Just sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Been able to stick with the eating plan pretty good this weekend but man, it is to hot to do any walking or anything. I'm bumming about that but with my back out I won't be able to do much anyway. Finding myself wanting to repeat myself so guess I'll sign off, eat some pork rinds and drink a coke zero. No carbs there!!! Talk to you later.

Say your prayers.

A little late posting tonight. We were out at the hospital visiting Terry's sister Patty. She's been having some issues lately and is just sick and tired of being sick and tired. Remember her in your prayer's tonight, she needs a lot of lifting. You couldn't find a sweeter person in your life, both of Terry's sisters are sweethearts. They make me laugh. Just send Patty a prayer tonight and tomorrow too.

My plants hadn't been watered all week and aren't looking to good tonight. I watered them big time though and they will come out of it but my tomato plant. Not sure if she is going to be as forgiving as everyone else will be. :o)

Hot, hot, hot and humid, humid, humid. My car temp said 104* when I pulled into the garage. Weatherman said that tomorrow it is suppose to get to 106*. Man, that is hot!!! I am tired of short warmer winters and longer, hotter summers. Explain to me again about this not being global warming???

Remember those that need us most people. This weather is brutal and there are so many tonight that don't have a house to call a home. Not only the one's I have been posting about but everyone that are on the streets. I don't know what the answer is but there has to be one somewhere.

Good night everyone.

Homemade recipe

A friend of mine posted this tonight on FaceBook and it is a really good idea so thought I'd post it on here too. "trick for cleaning showers. Mix 1 cup heated white vinegar with 1 cup blue Dawn dish soap in spray bottle. I promise your showers have never sparkled like this...lol. I use it on everything now!!! Cuts through hard water stains. No harmful bleach or fumes and I'm not afraid to get it on my skin. The first night I sprayed my entire shower and let it sit overnight, now I just mist and wipe. Works like a charm!!!" I am going to try this as soon as I can, hopefully I'll remember it.

Went out to lunch today with the guys. It was fun and then took them by the office to meet one of my supervisors. Then when I got home tonight we went to the grocery store. Bought a bunch of junk food for Brandon. He loves his junk food and at least now he'll have something to eat on when I go back to Harrisonville this weekend. Kid's pretty easy to feed and he'll eat leftovers with no problems. Funny how good they taste when you are hungry. LOL.

I am tired tonight. Didn't exercise because by the time I got home after the grocery store all I wanted to do was put on my baggy t-shirt and shorts, and that is what I did. It was tough working today because hardly anyone was at work but the drive in was a breeze and wasn't hard to find a parking spot in the garage.

Well, I'm getting off here. Tired and am doing laundry, will talk to you later.

Curse you Cornbread Muffin!!!

Well, I got back on MyFitnessPal.com tonight. I did it a year ago with a good friend of mine and we did pretty good but as usual, we both fell off the wagon. I think it will be easier to count my carbs this way and am thinking I have her talked into getting on it with me again. It calculates my carbs for me. Plus I screwed up big time today. We went to Famous Dave's to eat. I ordered really good, had the smoked chicken, steamed broccoli, side garden salad that was delish but they put a frigging cornbread muffin on there. That sucker was fantastic. I was just going to taste it but ended up eating the entire thing. Just like an addict will do. Hoping the 30 minutes on the treadmill at 3.0 miles at a 3.0 and at times 4.0 incline counteracted that dang muffin. Tick me off big time but man it was good.

We went to see Ted this afternoon too. Such a cute movie. Silly as all get out but what do you expect from a movie with a talking, dope smoking, teddy bear. It was good though. There's a really good Will Ferrel movie coming out, The Candidate I think is the name of it. Some don't like Will Ferrel but I think he's hilarious.

We were going to go to Springfield and watch the fireworks from Hammond's Field but when we were coming home at 6pm the thermometer in my car read 103*. To hot for this fat little girl to set on asphalt and watch fireworks. I'm going to go out on the balcony and watch them from afar.

Going to head off friends. Remember "We live in the land of the free but only because of the brave. Happy Independence Day!"

Happy 4th Everyone.

As I am sitting here watching The Walton's rerun and thinking about Andy Griffith passing away, it makes me wonder, what has happened to good TV shows? When did we lose the need to sit and watch wholesomeness, shows with decent values and morals that we should live by. Yes John Walton wouldn't go to church on Sunday's with the family and Grandpa liked to take a nip or two at the Baldwin Sister's still that papa had left them but it was okay. Aunt Bea always had a meal fixed for Andy when he would get home from work and would worry about Opie and the way Andy would raise him.

I love those old shows as much as I love the movies that pattern themselves with these same morals and values. Secondhand Lions is one of my all time favorite movies that would watch over and over if I could. If you have never watched it you should make a point of it. Good, good movie.

Got on that little spiel because I am so sick and tired of reality TV shows. Oh well, with nothing on TV tonight I walked down to the fitness center and walked 20 minutes on the treadmill and 10 minutes on the elliptical. Total of 3 miles so all was good. Walked down there and walked back. Took a little while to get my wind back but I feel pretty dang good tonight. Was able to get a shirt on today that had been a little tight on me before so was glad about that, plus my pants were looser than normal and shorts tonight was easier to get on. My friend at work said she could see where I'd lost but I don't see it yet. Scales say 10 pounds but sometimes inches say more than the scale.

Stayed down here Springfield this week. Holiday on Wednesday messes everyone up. Put a roast in the crock pot with potatoes and carrots. It was pretty good. Once I get most of the food ate that I have I am going to buy more fish. I love fresh fish.

Well, I'm going to sign off. You guys have a good 4th tomorrow and I will write you tomorrow night.

I posted this on my Facebook page tonight and someone brought up that this pinwheel has 13 points to represent each of the original 13 colonies. How cool is that???

Monday, July 2, 2012

Good Night

Welp, sorry. Going to make this short and sweet. Am tired. Not much happened and have been a bit of a funk. No particular reason, just am. Everyone has funk days though so all is well.

They've gotten quite a bit of rain down here in Springfield. Brandon said it really rained and stormed last night. I sure wish we'd get some up there in Harrisonville. We need it so bad

Well, said it is going to be short and this is it. I'm done. Talk to you more tomorrow.

Tonight's the night

Well, good day again today but of course I like the saying, "Any day you wake up is a good day." Guess that is true. Did okay as far as eating goes. It was a little easier today but haven't put in the exercise regime yet. Was going to wake up this morning and go walk and I forgot. Sat down, drank my coffee, watched my Sunday Morning show, made lunch and was like, CRAP~I was going to walk this morning. Early afternoon I couldn't see it being done.

Found out today that I like Greek Yogurt and if anyone is into yogurt and haven't tried it you should. I bought one small container to see if I liked it and I did. I bought the brand made in the KC area Anderson Eriksson and got the raspberry flavored. It had like 14 grams of protein and 24 grams of carbs. Very filling and very good. A lot better than the other yogurt I've always ate. I'm sold on it so there ya go. I know some of you are saying, who cares but evidently you do if your still reading this.

I've come across an organization that I feel very strongly for. Maybe because where it is, maybe because I know someone that is helping this cause or maybe just because it is something we should do. I feel in my heart God places people in my walk of life for a reason and this is something He has shown me that needs our help. The organization is called Moccasin Mile Outreach. It is the dream of one person to reach out to help with the unmet needs of our homeless veterans living in homeless camps down around Springfield MO area. This week police came in and disrupted their camp during the night and made them disburse. Springfield News Leader, the local newspaper has an article about it. Springfield Police clarify homeless arrests Basically police had no right to disrupt in such a way and were just being "Copper, copper, crime stoppers. This lady has some of these homeless veterans in motel rooms until she can find a house to rent that is cheap. A couple of these veterans have heart problems.

With this said, I am asking you to say a prayer, donate, do whatever you can to help. I do not know the name of the lady that is manning this organization but I will find out because I plan to help anyway I can. I can't help a lot but anything is appreciated. I have a friend that says once they get in their place he plans to go down and take some fishing. How cool is that??? If you know of cheap housing down around there let us know, if you can donate to help with rent or the motel rooms, let us know. I realize there are people that need help all around the world and I understand there has always been the homeless but dang it people. It's time we help our own the best way we can and as I said, this organization has come into my life right now for a reason. What is that reason you ask??? No idea whatsoever but I know to do what my heart tells me to do and here I am.

Well, can't think of to much more to post tonight. I have been pretty preoccupied lately, not sure why. We went for a ride tonight down around Garden City. Made lunch today with fried chicken and gravy. I know, I only ate one piece of chicken, had a huge salad and lots of raw veggies and some fruit. Anyway, made a big bunch of gravy for Cash, Josh's dog and Josh forgot it when he left. We went down there to give it to Cash and he was at the next door neighbors house in the swimming pool they bought for him. He has the lap of luxury over at their house and he knows it. He is part lab and part bloodhound and is a big fat bozo. Such a good dog. Love that guy with all my heart and miss him lots after I left. Probably missed him more than Josh. LOL. Anyway he has a good life now. Sometimes Josh brings him in the house and he sleeps in there with Josh. LOL.

Getting off here. Will write more tomorrow. Talk to you later.
