Look's like May, Feel's like July

I had a wonderful day today. Got up early this morning (8am, which is early for me because it is the weekend) and went down to Lowry City to help with the stuffing of the envelopes to invite all to the Reunion in May. It was so nice to be around everyone and plan to get the bulletins done this week. I love "going home". Mom always referred to Lowry City as home and I do too. It is where you were raised.

Got home and my friend Carole called and wanted to go shopping so I went off with her. I'm tired and got home with my handsome man mowing the yard. He really loves his new toy, the riding lawnmower. We are sitting around watching the Ohio St. KU game. Terry always wants whoever KU is playing to win.

Not much happening tonight. I am tired from all the running around. They say it's suppose to be 90* tomorrow and it was upper 80's today. Told Terry it looks like May and feels like July. :o) It is beautiful though and saw where my Hosta's are coming up. Yeahhhh. Didn't think they'd make it under the oak trees but did. One hasn't yet. Will go out and water them tomorrow. Am wanting to put my houseplants outside but afraid to. Afraid that we may get a hard freeze but don't know for sure that is going to happen.

Well, was talking to Carole today about not winning the Mega Millions yesterday but it was sure fun spending it before I got it. Terry told the guy at QuikTrip, when he asked him what he was going to do if he won, he was going to head to Vegas and put it all on red!!! LOL. Crack me up.

Talk to you guys tomorrow. Going to church, haven't been for a couple of weeks. Can't believe Easter is almost here. Remember what Easter is really about, just like Christmas....we seem to forget.

Big Bummer

A little bit how I feel tonight after not winning the Mega Millions. LOL. Not really but Terry and I had a blast talking about how we were going to spend it and what we were going to do. Can you imagine 640 million dollars??? Wow!!!

Nothing earth shattering happened today. Came home, went out and ate, Josh came up because he has a bad case of poison ivy and needed some meds, Brandon called to see if I had any Tylenol at the apartment, Terry has been watching the Royals play and now we're watching Frasier. Oh and I did some Swedish Weaving. Swedish weaving is also known as Huck Embroidery if you want to look it up. I love doing it but I'm not actually weaving, even though my girlfriend has a loom and I have wove on it and love it.

Running down to Lowry City tomorrow. I go every year to the All School Reunion and last year they nominated me President. We are stuffing envelopes tomorrow to send invitations out. It is always fun to go back down there once a year in May to see people that helped raise you into the person you are today. A lot of them are passing on but there are still those still around. I look forward to it every year.

I'll write more tomorrow. Talk to you later.

Ok then!!!

I have been working on my style of writing at work. It is extremely hard for me to write something that isn't a chat but need to work more on something being informative. Hard to explain but I tend to be a passive writer at times. When you are as old as this old bird it is hard to change old habits. I have been in the professional world for 16 years but for about 21 years before that I had been a waitress, cook and anything else I could find to do to put food on the table and pay the bills. Oh well. Anything can be learned if you apply yourself.

I had to sit in on a webinar today by University of Colorado on Media and Partner Eliciation. Don't jump all at once wanting to find out where the next one is. Anyway there were participants from all over the US and I saw someone from Nebraska I had trained about 8 years ago. I had lost her email address and we changed our email's all the time at work as I am sure they do too. She does my job for the State of Nebraska. I was so excited, I wrote her email address down and plan to email her tomorrow. I have lost my friend from Philadelphia. I really liked her and we would keep in contact through all the years. One of these days our pathes may pass again. That is one place I would not want to do my job in, downtown Phillie. Some of the stories she would tell me would scare me to death. Glad we have the simple Midwestern life that we have. We may not think so but move. It's worse other places.

Not much happening, am glad tomorrow is the start of the weekend. Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings are my favorite time of the week. I am tired tonight, as usual. Brandon and I ordered pizza delivery. It was pretty good but the best part is that I didn't have to cook. Talked to Josh and he helped Grandpa move cattle to sale them. He loves that work and it tires him out. Said he thought he might have a tractor job to do, working on a tractor. He loves that life too. I wish I could have raised him as a farm boy but he did alot of it with Jim Riffle and still is. Pretty proud of that boy but as I said, I am proud of both my boys.

Well, going to get to see my husband and my Lamar tomorrow night. Sure do miss the two of them during the week. Lamar gets so excited when he sees me. He's a mess.

Going to go and read a little plus do my weaving. I'm excited about it. Hope it turns out as good as it is in my mind. Talk to you guys later.

It was a good one!!!

Had a good day and the dogwoods are beautiful right now. Went to Anderson Mo and Pineville. I really, really, really like the people down in Pineville, the Health Department. Good, down to earth kind of people. Asked where a good place to eat was and they said The Bake Shop or Mercantile Co in Anderson. We picked The Bake Shop and OMG!!! The peanut butter cream pie was to die for and I had a Reuben, the best I've ever had in my life I think. Their thousand island dressing was homemade and must have had honey in it or something. Delish. The peanut butter pie was like a chiffon with chocolate crust and whip cream on top. Next time, if there is a next time, I am going to get the coconut cream pie. It looked to die for. The funny thing though, when the nurse at McDonald County Health Department was telling us about The Bake Shop, we thought she said The Bait Shop. LOL.

this evening ran by Joann's to pick up a pair of scissors and check into getting the pilfer remover but didn't get one. Was going to shop around a little first. There is a Christian book store next door and I am a sucker for a book store. They had NKJ bibles on sale for $5. I picked one up because I always end up giving someone a bible that I have ministered to. Also picked up a book "The Maker's Diet for Weight Loss" 16-week strategy for burning fat, cleansing toxins and living a healthier life: by Jordan S. Rubin. I am going to see what it has in store for me. It couldn't hurt and what the heck, 16 weeks is 3 months. I think I could commit myself. It's worth a read and who knows.

Then since I was over in the area I ran over to Barnes and Noble. I received a $25 gift card for Christmas and hadn't used it yet and bought me a book on Blogging for Dummies. I love the books "for Dummies" and have learned a lot of stuff in them. Will keep doing what I am doing but will be reading it too and updating my skills. I really like doing this one where it is a journal type of blog. We'll wee what comes through this book too. Like I said, I am a stickler when it comes to book stores, libraries or yard sales that sell books. Love my books.

Been getting "my Weave on" with the afghan and Swedish Weaving. I really love doing it and should have been doing it more. Plan to finish some that I have started and haven't finished. Showed Brandon a afghan I was working on that is big and he said he really liked it. I told him I would finish it and give it to him. He said I didn't need to do it but I plan to. He's such a good kid but I'm not going to get into my boys. I love them both.

Well, Brandon and I were figuring out what we were going to do with we would win the Mega Million power ball. It is up to $500 million. Can you imagine??? 1/2 a billion dollars. Like my niece said, we'd wake up the next morning singing Johnny Paycheck. LOL.

Getting off of here and going to do some reading. One thing about it. Been off the computer a lot more now that I am weaving. :o) Talk to you guys later, love you all!!!

Ginger Blue

Well, tomorrow I am heading as far southwest in the state of MO that you can go. McDonald County. Can't explain and be politically correct so not even going to try but the folks down there are very backwoods. There was a lot of lead mining done in that region and that is all I am going to say. I have never been to the health department down there but my supervisor and I are going and she was telling me that the county is really excited about it. They placed an old double wide up against an old house that was falling down. One thing I do have to say about the staff down there, they are awesome. They will do anything you ask and work really hard. I am sure they aren't paid a lot of money at all.

I am tired and am going to start on my afghan. Am a little upset because the material pilfer up when I washed it but will be okay when I am done. I am going to run to the fabric store tomorrow and see if I can buy something that can shave the little balls of fuzz off the material. I am excited about starting up again and will post pictures, maybe. :o)

One thing about it, McDonald County is very pretty down there. I use to date someone who's family from from that area. Anderson and Noel, along Elk River. I loved the little community called Ginger Blue down there on the river. It was in the late 70's when I would go down there and Ginger Blue was around the time that the Ozark Mountain Daredevils had their song "Jackie Blue".

Well, I am going to sign off. Tired and want to sew some so will talk atcha later.

It's always good.

Well, here it is another evening. I am in Springfield, gearing up for another fun filled week of fighting infections, viral and bacterial. But only STD and HIV. For those of you that think I work for Social Services, no I don't. I work for the Department of Health. Nothing to do with taking children away from their parents, issueing food stamps, or anything like that but if you know someone that could use a condom, let me know. I can fix them right up.

It was another nice day in the MidWest but we are going to pay for this, I just know it. It is going to be hotter than Haiti's come about August but I still would rather it be hot than really, really cold. I don't complain when the hot weather comes around, no matter what the temperature is. I do complain about humidity though, that makes me miserable. And one of my allergies is mold and with humidity comes mold. Oh well.

Don't know much. Just gearing up for the work week. Am going to start on a baby afghan this week hopefully. Going to do Swedish Weaving on it and hope to have it done by May. I should, it won't take to much time. Also going to start back up on my genealogy. Am looking forward to that. Going to have to do something to get me away from this silly computer. Spend way to much time on Facebook. Will still blog though, kinda like that.

Nothing to amazing has happened lately. Just the same ole stuff. I hate the waiting game but that is all we can do sometimes. Hurry up and wait and that is what I'm doing.

Guess I'll buzz out of here and catch you guys tomorrow. Good night.

Oh Paula. The answer to your question about my salads. I put anything and everything I can find. Yesterday I put, red bell peppers, raw zucchini, onion, romaine lettuce, mozzarella cheese, sunflower seeds, croutons, french fried onions, bacon bits, tomatoes, raw carrots. Today we had a salad but didn't have any more red bell peppers so put the rest of the grilled tenderloin and the grilled zucchini to get rid of it. It was pretty tasty too, and put all the other ingredients in. We never tire of a salad and usually make enough for a meal alone. That's the way I roll. LOL. I usually put dried cranberries in mine too but didn't have any, had already ate all of them.

They Need Us.

Whatever you do, don't look, don't look, don't look.

Man, these last two weeks have flown by and don't want to wish my life away but sure do wish it was like 6 months from now. Everything will be done with and we can move on with our lives the way they were, or do we ever move on with our lives the way they were. Probably not because we grow and respond differently to different things. I'm so tired and have a headache again tonight. Am thinking the headache part may be allergies from this beautiful warm weather we have been having and everything in bloom.

Cooked out on the grill today. My husband is the best grill master, or is it just because I don't have to. Probably that. I made a mega salad, told Josh today I couldn't make a small salad if I had to and he told me there isn't anything wrong with that at all. My salads are awesome. He's such a good kid. I enjoyed him and Brandon last week in Springfield, they are so funny together and crack me up. Can't believe that Brandon is almost done with his Master's and will have it in May. I am so proud of him, but of course I am extremely proud of Josh too. I'm a lucky lady to have three wonderful men in my life and for all three of them appreciate me as much as I appreciate them. Unconditionally. That is the way it should be and always be there for them no matter what the circumstances are. If it me, so be it. I have never let anything get in the way from the raising of my son and never will. No matter how old they are, they always need their mama. :o) I know I miss mine big time!!!

Terry gets his new lawnmower tomorrow and is really wanting to get started on the yard. He reseeded the front yard and put straw over the seed. Next door neighbor complained to him because the robins took that straw to build nests in his tree's and the rain knocked the straw into this yard. LOL. Terry was like, did that straw have my name written on it. How did he know that was our straw. Could have been the apartment's straw because they have some laying on new seed they seeded. I told him, let it go. Leave the neighbor's alone. LOL.

Well, tomorrow I go back down to Springfield and see what is going to happen down there. Probably just same ole same ole. Hope you guys have a great day and will talk to you tomorrow. Sorry about no posting last night but Josh spent the night with us and there was a lot going on. Later.

1 % nothing is still nothing

This young man's name is Tyler Farr and he is from Garden City MO and was a couple grades up from Josh. He sure can sing but comes from it honestly. HIs mama and daddy can really sing too as well as his sister that is a year older than Josh. His dad and mom are divorced and she remarried a man that was the guitar player for George Jones and that is what really gave Tyler his opportunity to shine. This song plays on the Country radio station's in Missouri and I am pretty proud of this young man. Extreme talent.

Got my hair colored and trimmed today. It is funny how just the little things make you feel so much better. Plan to go and get a pedi tomorrow. Flip flops and warm temps are around the corner. Rains have stopped and it is suppose to warm up some within the next week. Man, it is so beautiful and green out right now and the spring blooms are beautiful. My red bud tree I planted about 4-5 years ago in Garden City is beautiful. I looked at it today when I dropped Josh off at his house. It has a leaning problem because Josh had to replace the water line into the house and he dug right next to it but it lived. That's all that matters. Hope it does okay though leaning as it is.

As always it is good to be home. Terry is watching March Madness. Just waiting around for baseball season. I do like baseball.

Going to work in the flower beds this weekend. All this rain will make it easy, plus work on cleaning out my pots too. Love the new beginnings of spring.

Well, nothing much going on. Just really tired and all. There are some new jobs that have come up at work that would be promotions and may try for them. Since we haven't even had a cost of living raise in 5 years you have to do something with the state to make more money. Our last raise was a 1% raise 5 years ago, 1% of nothing is still nothing. Boo. Oh well, at least I have a job.

Going to sign off. Talk more tomorrow, maybe.

It's raining again.

Had a good night tonight with the boys. We went to Lambert's to eat supper and had a hour and a half wait. I can't believe we waited that long. Brandon reminded me that it was Spring Break why so many were there. I had forgotten about that. Oh well, it was good and the boys are so funny and crack me up.

Am really glad tomorrow is Friday!!! Three days home will be pretty nice and do still enjoy my Monday's off. Not sure if we are suppose to get more rain but on our ride home from Jefferson City there were a lot of creeks out and the rivers were swollen too. Everything is so green and the red buds are beautiful. The dogwoods are starting to bloom and look beautiful in the tree's. They are understory tree's and are, as I said, so beautiful.

Not much to say. Still really tired and all but things are okay. Don't know much to say so going to post a song and call it the night. I posted it on Facebook too tonight but I just heard this tonight and loved the music. The boys keep me young.

Color

Well, said I was going to write more tonight and here I did it again, lied. It is late and I am tired. Josh went to Jefferson City with me Tuesday and Wednesday, then rode down to Springfield with me too. We went out and ate after we got into town and then ran by Best Buy to pick up a DVR and a few movies. Then ran to the grocery store to pick up some munching food and the boys are watching a dumb movie "The Sitter". I sat for a few minutes and then decided to come into my room and mess on the computer. Sometimes those stupid movies are just down right stupid and I don't really like them. I will watch it eventually, just not in the mood tonight. To tired. I did buy Puss and Boots though, can't wait to watch it. I love those good cartoon movies.

Two days of meetings makes for one tired person. We didn't get done until 7pm the first night and then today we didn't get done until 2pm. Okay, can you say veg out material I have become. I am excited that they are giving us more opportunities to develop professionally. Some think it is stupid but those don't have to take advantage of the opportunities.

Well, I am going to go to bed. It is late and I am tired. Maybe, maybe, might I will write more tomorrow. We'll see. Love you guys and baseball is around the corner.

Go Royals. :o)

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

First day of Spring and I had to spend it in Jeff City, but that's okay. Lots and lots of rain today but at least I'm not getting the snow and black ice my cousin was telling me about out in Granite Falls which is close to Seattle. No matter how bad we have it someone can tell us something worse in their life. LOL. If that's the worse thing, she's doing pretty good.

I'm tired and exhausted. The last two days have been pretty grueling. I am going to go to bed and not write much tonight. Family is all doing okay. Another day of meetings and then I go back down to Springfield. That will be okay too. Talk to you tamale.

Gnarly Duration

Good day. Cooked pork steaks out on the grill, made my killer potato salad and baked beans. Also had iced tea for lunch. Josh said I had him at potato salad. LOL. Him and Terry do love my cooking, as does Brandon. Except Brandon is picky, Terry just a little and Josh not so much. He only refuses tomatoes but loves ketchup and spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce and so on. Hates tomatoes though. I can't complain about Brandon though, he loves fish and him and I hit it off really good in that aspect. Josh likes fish too but more so when it is fresh caught and Terry not so much. Unless it is Captain D's. LOL.

We watched "The Descendants" today with George Clooney. Can I say it was an outstanding movie. I loved it but Josh said he didn't get it. I am like whatever, as long as there isn't boobies, fast cars and shooting~~~you don't get it!!! He said pretty much so.

Terry and I took a walk after Josh left and there was some beautiful blooms out and about!!! Then we took a ride to Russell Stover's for a couple dips of sugar free ice cream. We are a mess!!! Then we ran to Wal-Mart to pick up a gas can for the lawn mower. It was such a beautiful day and this evening is going to be a nice night for sleeping. They are talking storms tomorrow but we will worry about that when it comes.

I have to spend a couple days in JC Tuesday and Wednesday and hope it isn't raining when I am coming home. Not a biggie if it is, would rather have rain than snow and ice.

Not much more to say. Good day today and I loved it. Talk to you later.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

All week we have been having upper 70's, lower 80's temps. It has been so nice. Yesterday evening before it got dark Terry and I took a ride. We ended up in a small town south of Harrisonville, Archie MO. As we were riding there and after we got into the town I was looking at the beautiful country with the jonquils in full bloom, Bradford Pears all white with their blooms, red buds coming into bloom and read something that the dogwoods are fully bloomed over around the Lake of The Ozarks and Jefferson City. I have to be in JC next week and am looking forward to the drive to Springfield after the meetings because I LOVE the dogwoods in full bloom. As we were riding around I was talking to Terry and I commented if I had to pick I wasn't sure what my favorite bloom in the Springtime was. One flower garden was so beautiful with all different shapes and sizes of jonquils and then surrounding the front was those little purple flowers in full bloom with one of those yellow bushes and a red bud tree starting to show it's color behind that. The grouping was beautiful. Probably the red bud would have to be my favorite but I do love those dogwoods. Pink or white. Which one do you guys love the most???

We went and tried out a new restaurant outside of town between Freeman MO and Harrisonville on 2 Highway. The restaurant is called Harold's, on the corner of C Highway and 2 and may I say oh my gosh!!! It was fantastic and the atmosphere is awesome. There has always been a convenience store at that corner and Terry said someone won a large amount lottery ticket and the store got a percentage of the ticket sold and the guy rebuilt his business. I don't know how much that was but it must have been a heck of a chunk of change. The oak furniture in the restaurant alone must be worth thousands of dollars. Inside the restaurant there is an old house inside. Some of the old BS'ers that were in there said he had bought an old house off Y highway and brought it there. It even has a pool room with some beautiful pool tables.

For lunch I had a smoked pulled pork sandwich that was outstanding. I loved the BBQ sauce too and it didn't come with the sauce on it, I had to put it on myself which is the way I love it. Anyway, you guys should check into it. Really a good place to eat and when I go again I'm checking out the ribs, saw a plate full go past the booth we sat in and they looked great. Terry had a pork tenderloin and he said it was really good but I don't know. I'm a BBQ looker outer and look out, loved their smoked meats.

Josh and I ran over to Ly Cynge Kansas today and it was such a nice ride. I enjoyed it and I think he did too. Then when I got home Carole called and asked if I wanted to run up to the new Jo Ann's Fabric and Craft store in Belton and off I went back out into the world. We both really liked the store and now it means we won't have to run to Independence for our supplies. Now if they put a Hobby Lobby up there I won't have to go to Independence or Lee's Summit again except I love the Hobby Lobby they have in Lee's Summit. It's a very nice store.

When I left Terry he was cleaning out the shed and doing some raking in the yard. I needed to stay and work in the flower beds but didn't. :o( Hopefully next week.

Today was a lot better than the week has been. Hopefully everything will keep getting better. They seem to be, Josh is happy about everything and so am I, that's all that matters.

Well, heading out of here.

Abbreviated and Wholesome.

Today was good but I thought it would be over, well it isn't yet but Tuesday shall be the day that things are either going to go better or the same. Prayers again everyone, please. I hate this stress that all this has given me, I just need to let it go but that is so hard for my personality. Let go and Let God. I know the talk, I just have to learn to walk the walk.

Today is 3:16. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Wonder how many little boys have been born on this date and were named John. According to Wikipedia this is the most popular Christian bible verse and is the gospel in a nutshell.

Well, I'm going to make this really short. Slow news day. LOL. Talk to you tomorrow.

You Mean It's Not Over YET???

Today Josh and I was standing in the license bureau, waiting to get his truck registered and as usual, we had to wait in line. When we walked into the facility there was an older man sitting in the chairs against the wall. He asked which place were we waiting on and we told him registering and he showed us where we needed to go, like we didn't know we were just in there the day before. There was a really long line in the driver's license line, must have been the day they were giving the tests because there were a bunch of teenagers with their mom's in the line. There was a lady up at the desk getting her license renewed, she looked to be in her 80's. She missed a couple of them and the lady told her to go sit down and she'd call her when her license was done. She walks by and sits by the old guy. He goes, how many did you miss and she said only 2. He was talking to a guy in the line and that was his mom and she was 93 years old, getting her drivers license. LOL. Josh and I looked at each other like "OMG!!!" The guy was in his upper 70's and they were talking and they called out the ladies name to come get her drivers license and neither one of them could hear her. The old lady goes, did she call my name and he goes I don't know. I told them they called Ruth and he goes, that's you maw. She goes up and gets her license and he goes, come on let's go eat. Cracked us both up.

Had a really good supper. Terry cooked boneless chicken breasts outside with potatoes and asparagus. Josh and I love our fresh asparagus and Terry tried it. He looks at me and says are you sure it is good. I said I love it and he asked Josh if he liked it and he goes, YEAH!!! Josh has always loved all his veggies, mainly fresh ones except green beans. Anyway Terry tasted it and said it was like pulling up a weed out in the yard and eating it. LOL. I asked him how many weeds he's eaten out in the yard. I knew what he meant though and I told him it is a little like that, you can pick it on the side of the road where it's grown wild. The chicken was OUTSTANDING!!! Like I said, I love food cooked out on the grill. I also love that my husband likes to help me in the kitchen. Don't care what you guys say, he's a catch. :o)

Well, things are looking better as the week draws to an end. Still going to be a hell of a ride but all will be okay. Saw a good friend of mine, Josh calls her Aunt Nellie. Her and I roomed together when I came back to MO in the early 80's and she was getting a divorce. We both were waitresses at Old Cedar Inn and did we have a good time. We were in our mid 20's, the perfect age to be young and dumb. LOL. Anyway it was good seeing her today, she is like a sister to me and can we tell you some stories of our lives together.

Looks like we may be getting rain next week which will make Terry happy. He was out watering the yard today, it sure looked like it could all day today and yesterday also, but it didn't. I say bring it on. We had a really dry winter and hope the spring won't be dry like that.

Well, I am going to sign off. My neck is stiff today and I have had a mild headache. This stress stuff has got to stop. Well, talk to you later. March madness has started and it shows what I know. I thought basketball was over after MO won Big 12. LOL.

Go Royals

Wow, just looked at the time and realized it is 10:30pm. I am becoming a night owl. Today was a better day for me but they come and they go. Lots going on and Friday I may need some extra prayer for Josh and I. We're dealing with a bunch of stuff and we will find out more Friday afternoon. Just remember us during this time. I have taken the week off and am home this week and what a beautiful week it has been.

I was telling Josh today that I was outside yesterday and the church next door to us has a playground and they have daycare within the church. The children were outside playing, swinging and enjoying the beautiful weather before lunch. While I was outside I could hear the ice cream truck coming into our neighborhood. By the time it was on our road the children had stopped what they were doing and were plastered to the fence screaming ICE CREAM MAN!!! This one little guy was jumping up and down and doing some head banging moves while he was screaming. It was like crack cocaine for kids!!! It made me laugh because one little guy was screaming at me "Hey Wadie, Stop the ICE CREAM MAN!!!" As soon as the ice cream man had driven out of site, the tornado sirens came on during the nationwide drill. All of a sudden the children stopped dead in their tracks and single filed into the church with the teachers leading them. That cracked me up too because it was like Pavlov's dog or something.

Today was extremely warm and we have had windows open with the ceiling fans going. Terry just mentioned you'd think it has been 100* outside the way we are sitting around, windows open, no heat and fans going. Can't believe it is the middle of March. He fertilized and watered the grass seed he layed last week. We are going to have such a beautiful yard.

Oh, before I forget and I meant to tell Josh and forgot, but we were sitting in the living room today and Lamar started growling and barking. Terry looked out the window and there were two doves perched on our deck top. I love doves and absolutely love to listen to their coos. I have had birds in the past and always wanted doves but birds can be so dirty and are a mess. I never had any doves but knew someone that raised them. I've only had finches (I love them, ours was Burt and Birdie) and I also had a little paraket (Nash).

Nash came from a family of 5 children when I lived in Oklahoma and it is the only parakeet I know of that could talk. He only knew one statement and it was "Son of a Bitch." LOL. I worked for the mother of this family at a restaurant in Medford Oklahoma. I really liked her and she was a good employer. It was so funny, her birthday was like a couple days from Memorial Day and we were working lunch rush with a restaurant full of customers. Her youngest son comes into the cafe (probably around 5-6 yo) with one of those memorial wreaths that had a banner that said MOM. He was so proud of himself because he bought her some flowers for her birthday with money that he had saved up. There was a dime store in town just a few blocks from the restaurant, just a few blocks from his house. She never said a word, smiled and told him she loved them more than anything else he has ever gotten her and sat them next to the cash register. The regular customers told him how beautiful they were and he was beaming with a light just shining out of those big brown eyes.

I will remember that family until the day I die and often wonder about the ones that have crossed my path and where they are in their lives.

Well, I'm tired and need to get this posted. Hope you guys checked into the links I posted yesterday on Doc Ruth. She was such an interesting lady!!!

Women History Month

March 2012, it is a month that will come and go but will be a month that I will remember for a long, long time. Then again I may forget when it was and what happened. Here's to hoping I forget, even though I know things are given to us to learn from and will be fine. I know, I am talking to circles and riddles but don't feel comfortable to share as of yet but it is something that is weighing on my mind and heart. Oh, and don't worry it is nothing to do with Terry and I or my family or job. Just something that is going on right now. Love my husband, love my family and tolerate my job. LOL.

Today in our many e-mails from work it was brought to my attention that this is the month of Women's History and since I work for the Department of Health and Senior Services they are pinpointing women that have made a contribution to the medical field. The video they sent us was Elizabeth Blackwell, the first women to have recieved a medical degree in the United States.

It was a very good piece and made me feel proud of her but made me think about one of our own that opened the path for women from Missouri, Doc Ruth Seevers of Osceola Mo. Doc Ruth was an icon in St. Clair MO. She passed away in 1985 at 102 years old, actively practing medicine from 1906 to 1977, in her early 90's. Her office was just off the square in Osceola and there was not a receptionist in there, you just sat and waited your turn and she would get to you soon. I had gone to her for sports physical's but never as my primary care doctor. Oh know, you went to Clinton to Wetzel Clinic for that.

Her house is a house that is still standing in Osceola and this little girl always thought it was magnificent. It was on a hill in Osceola looking down upon the town and now it has a magnificent view of Truman Lake. She was an icon that if you grew up in St. Clair county, no doubt you have a Doc Ruth story to tell. Memories last a life time.

Another beautiful day. Terry got the gas grill fired up tonight and we had the first hamburgers and hotdogs of the season. They will be good from now on but nothing like the first. Now there won't be much cooking inside, all done on the grill. I even love fish steamed on the grill and do all my veggies out there too. Yummy, yum, yum, yum.

See you guys tomorrow and hope you click on the links to read about these wonderful women that have made a significant change in so many lives.

Spring is Coming!!!
Source: bhg.com via Glenda on Pinterest

As I was pulling into the garage tonight at 7:45, night had not made it's complete presence yet and the birds were singing at the top of their little lungs, chirping and building nests to prepare for the new birth's that will be coming soon enough. You could actually smell spring today in the air, this is the time of year I love. Everything is greening up and waking up after its long winters sleep. I love all the seasons for their own little place in our lives, God definitely knows how to make things beautiful. No matter what it is, flowers in the spring or sunsets in the evening.

As you can tell, I have not gone back to Springfield this week and don't plan to. I have work to do in Raymore (Cass County) and also work in Nevada (Vernon County) so I will work up here for a couple of days, taking Thursday and Friday off for vacation. Sometimes things happen that change our entire plan in life but all is good. I am home with my husband and my pets and that is all that matters to me.

Watching the weather tonight on the local station we are to have 70-80* weather. Wow. No rain and no storms so that is good. I just hope we don't have a hot and dry summer but we probably will. Oh well, it's been pretty unpredictable these last few years here.

As I am sitting here putting my feet up on the ottoman I see a couple of magazines that my husband subscribed to for me. You know I always liked Oprah's tv show and watched it when I could, also I took advantage of her book club but never paid much attention to her magazine. Well, that is the one Terry subscribed to for me. :o) I like Martha Stewart's magazine and her other one Living Simple and Oprah's reminds me of hers. I really, really, really like it. I love reading and finding out tips that will help make my life simpler. One thing I was reading on last months was how much better Stevia is for you since it is all natural, and also that it won't spike your blood glucose levels. We are going to see how it does with Terry's Diabetes and I will let you know. I got a new magazine today and haven't read all of last months yet. Oh well, I'll get caught up. :o)

Better go. Spring is in the air, even though the first day of spring is next week!!!

Brackets
Rain, rain, rain all day long. Thunder a couple of times too. Set clocks up last night before I went to bed and it's been a strange day. Josh spent the night last night so I didn't go to church this morning. When it was time to start lunch no one was hungry because we were still in breakfast mode but I started fixing at noon and all was good. After lunch we watched the movie "Due Date", I loved it. Thought it was good, but of course I didn't really know what to expect anyway and compared to the Jesse James Assissination movie we watched last night anything was going to be good!!!

This has been a heck of a week and weekend. Hoping next week will be better but as Josh says, can't go anywhere but up!!!
We can only hope.

My husband is watching basketball tonight, I thought after the Big 12 it was over, oh know....we have the Big 10, the Midwest region, Western Region which is what MO is going to, Southern Region, the list goes on. I'll be glad when baseball comes so I won't be so confused. Terry's trying to explain to me while I am typing this and all I hear is Charlie Brown's teacher talking to her class. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. :o) Of course he does the same thing when I get to talking plant talk or whatever.

I'm getting the Sunday evening blues, would much rather stay home and not head south tomorrow but of course once I get down there I am okay. It's all totally okay and before I know it something may happen and I can change things. We'll see. Do miss being home all the time.

Better go. It's 6pm and I am ready for a nap. LOL. May go and make me a chocolate sundae, that sounds good. :o)

Mizzou
The day was sunshine, breezes and spring in the air. I cleaned out the tiger lilies that probably haven't been cleaned out for 10 years. I got some of them dug up but have a bunch more that needs to be done. I am out of shape, it wore me out.

When we were at the graveside services today the family had a Jeremy Camp song playing and then let balloons loose. It was so beautiful but one of the bunches got caught in a tree. A few were popping as the wind was blowing them around and as this was happening the music was building up louder and stronger and then, slowed and started softly. At that time the balloons broke loose and floated off into the sky, separating as they were flying off, leaving the few that had popped in the tree. There wasn't a dry eye in the cemetery and the preacher took advantage of the opportunity of bringing an analogy to the message that was definitely God sent at that moment. We go along believing that life is good and all of a sudden something comes in our path, making life difficult and leaving scars, but then God comes into our lives allowing us to release from our past and go towards Him, leaving remnants of our past in the trees, never looking back. It was awesome and as I said, not a dry eye at the graveside.

Josh is up here tonight and we are watching "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford". Not sure if I like it or not but we're watching it. I usually like these westerns but his one is a little strange. Oh well, I'm the one that picked it out to watch this weekend along with "Due Date". I'm pretty sure that one is going to be gross and stupid but I will probably like it too. LOL.

Yes, this movie is weird. I am going to sign off, oh forgot to say the biggest and the bestest new in the whole wide world in my house anyways. MU beat Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament Championship. 90-75. MU is leaving with a big BANG.

New Look
I didn't need to change blogs, I needed to change my layout. LOL. The other one I messed with only let me post one free and then it wanted me to pay 69.95 to do anything else. Nah, I'm into the total free for right now. When Terry wins the lottery will I pay. LOL. Last night I got so aggrivated because I couldn't figure out how to keep posting blogs like I do in this one. Oh well, this is good enough for me. Plus I enjoy Paula and John's comments so much on here. They're the only two that have commented except I have had 2 anonymous postings but I believe I know who that hoodlum is. LOL. Go Royals. Oh and my sister in law Sheila has posted too. She was so excited because she had figured out how to join and all. I'm sorry I can't tell you guys because I don't remember how I joined but it's free and once you do you can comment on my postings.

All I can say about today was absolutely beautiful and made a lovely drive home. Yesterdays weather was wierd. We had rain, snow and sleet all day long. The day before was 66* at 7pm when I drove to pick up my prescriptions and then today was 61* as I was driving. Spring is the 20th but tomorrow night DST goes into effect. I love DST, I love the late days that are light outside and I love Spring even though we in the Midwest did not have a bad winter at all.

Tomorrow Terry and I have a funeral to attend but I plan to work out in the flowerbeds tomorrow afternoon and maybe Sunday. I can't wait. Terry reseeded the front part of the yard where the grass was dying. I'm going to have to call my friend and see if she has any plants I can thin out for her. I will call her this weekend also. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love, love, love growing season with a passion.

Not much planned this weekend except all of this. I'm happy with my new layout. May see what else I can do that is good. LOL. Let me know what you guys think.

They come and they go.
The end of a long day. It was a little rougher today than other days. That's okay though, that is what make us tougher and more determined to come out on the top, so to speak. I believe that I am at a time in my life that I need to improve my skills and broaden my horizon. Not sure how as of yet but it will come at me when needed to. Sometimes I do things and say things that people misinterpret but that is okay. It teaches me that I need to go to that person at a different angle than most. And of course, my favorite saying of all times is one Christene Thompson, my mama, always said...."Well, that's one man's opinion!!!" I never thought I'd say it because she drove me nuts but I miss that lady!!!

Just found out that someone has passed away. They were a family icon at 96 years old. Awesome, awesome lady!!! Brought back feelings and memories when my Aunt Jo, mom's last living sister passed away. I think I took her death the worse, maybe because she was the last of that generation to go or that I had just seen her 6 weeks before and she was in perfect health. She was in her mid 90's too. The lady that just passed away has left a void in the hearts of so many and there is no doubt at all where she is now. She was a Godly woman and had nothing to say about anyone but nice. My heart goes out to her family.

I so need to start doing some shopping for my apartment down here in Springfield. There is so much I could be doing and just haven't. I get off work and all I want to do is come home. I go home on the weekends and all I want to do is stay there. Going to have to beef it up a little bit. Going to have to start checking out different spots around Springfield and go places when I get home. Just gotta do it and not talk about it. Of course, think I said it last night. Talk is big, follow through stinks. Or something like that.

Well, I am going to go to bed. Am real tired tonight and not sure why. Slept fan frigging tastic last night. Didn't even hardly move from the spot in bed. Get up in the morning and looks like you just folded the cover over to get in bed. LOL.

Talk to you guys tomorrow. Gnite.

Spring is Burning in the Air
As I was heading down to Springfield this afternoon I was looking around at all the fields that are starting to green up. It looks so nice and there were lots of people burning off land. For those of you that don't know what burning off means, it happens in the Springtime in our area. Farmers burn off the dead grass and weeds so new grass will grow for their livestock in a month or so. It also takes care of ticks and bugs, Indians would burn right before new growth would begin in the spring to stimulate new plant growth. They would only do this every 5 years or so. I am sure we probably abuse it and do it every year because that is the way we roll. It is amazing when you drive through the Flint Hills in Kansas when they are burning it off. It's beautiful in the evening time.

Last week I read something that said that if you do something for 21 days straight it will become part of your routine. I'm like, hmmm 21 days. I can commit to that. Since it has been a month since I have exercised and gotten back on the healthy eating regime, I made today the start. Man, I hope I can do it because I want to feel good and have more energy. I went to the fitness center tonight and I can say right now I feel pretty good. Did 15 minutes on the treadmill and 10 on the elliptical. Went a total of 3 miles and burned 120 calories. Rock on, anyway it makes me feel good. Of course my talk is big, it is my follow through that sucks!!!

Pulled out the old Swedish Weaving tonight. Got all my patterns together and plan to incorporate them into a notebook tomorrow. A friend at work is having a new grandbaby and wants me to make her one. I am not going to charge her anything because I need her to sew the hem on her sewing machine and also will have her buy the yarn. She has 3 little grandsons and this is going to be her first little granddaughter. She is so excited. I am thinking about doing a bunch of them up along with some Tea Towels and might see if I can sell them on E=bay or Etsy. Of course as I said earlier "Talk is big, follow through sucks"!!! 8~P

Well, going to sign off. This week is going to be pretty nice and we are to get some rain. Terry is home reseeding the yard and getting ready for mowing season. He's so funny. Wish I was there this week to work in the flowers but plan to make it a priority next week.

As my favorite cartoon character in the whole wide world says, TTFN!!! {ta ta for now}

Past, Future or Present???
Good day. Went to church, came home and fixed fried chicken dinner with all the trimmings, fresh strawberries for dessert. Watched Moneyball. I thought it was a good movie but Terry and Josh LOVED it!!! Definately a movie for a baseball fanatic because if you don't like or understand baseball don't bother watching it. I had the guys to tell me stuff I didn't know throughout the movie. Some stuff I didn't want to know!!! :o)

The day was pretty and I really should have been out working in the flowerbeds instead of watching movies all weekend but oh well. It was my day off but will work in them some next weekend. When Terry and I took our walk this afternoon after Josh left it was so nice seeing Spring peeking through. The robins were hopping around chirping and finding something to eat in the yards. The tulips and Iris' are peeking up through the ground with the jonquels near blooming if not already fully bloomed in some yards. People are out reseeding their yards and Terry was checking out their handy work as he is planning to do the same to our yard. I love Spring. Of course I love all the changing of the seasons.

I do hate the storms though and my prayers go to the communities that were so hard hit with the storms last week. So many deaths and destruction. That is the part of Spring I hate with a passion.

I am tired and feel a little anxious today but I read a statement that hit it home for me bigtime. "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present." So true, I have been living in the past and the future the last 24 hours and I need to cut it out. Of course sometimes life gives you a speedbump and it will make you go places within your mind and feelings that you really don't want to go. I will go to bed tonight, sleep good and all will be well. I have to realize I need not worry about things that I have no control over whatsoever.

Well, I'm going to get off here and get some things done around the house that needs to be done. I will talk to you later.

Seasons
Sorry about last night. Josh's grandma isn't doing well and is in the hospital. She has the same thing my mom had, COPD and congestive heart failure. He was dealing with some issues yesterday and I was busy playing mom. Fed him and always there for him no matter what. I had brought three movies back from Springfield and we watched one yesterday and another on today, going to watch the thrid one tomorrow after lunch. 1st movie was Change Up. Very funny and a typical Josh and Brandon movie. Terry and I laughed though watching it. Today we watched Crazy Stupid Love. It was good, I liked it. Didn't really know where it was going to go and where it went was totally unexpected to a degree. Typical comedy, chick flick. Liked it and tomorrow after lunch we are going to watch Moneyball. Think it will probably be good too. Brandon said his dad would love it and wanted me to bring it for him to watch. Josh will love it to I am sure!!!

You know weather has been crazy here but the last three days have been totally out to left field. Thursday we had 75* and beautiful weather. No coat, short sleeves and then Friday morning we wake up to cold rainy weather that ended the morning out with wet quarter sized snow flakes. Nothing stuck and then it quit, sun came out and it was a comfortable 40+*. Crazy stuff going on. Today was colder, probably in the 30's and breezy. Tomorrow we are suppose to get more snow coming through. My jonquels are blooming and look very pretty. One thing about our flowers and such, they are hardy.

Terry is watching the first baseball Spring Training game. New York Yankees at Philadelphia Phillies, he said the Royals plays tomorrow but it won't be televised. Watching this game makes me realize how much I miss baseball. I love that sport. Now we have Duke and North Carolina game on. LOL.

Welp, talk to you guys tomorrow. Going to church in the morning and then home for lunch. Thinking about fried chicken but not sure. Probably will be.

Love ya.

I'm back
Well, survived the storms Tuesday night, actually I slept right through them. Amazing since a tornado touched down and killed someone 30 miles north in Buffalo MO and Branson which is 40 some miles away was pretty much devastated. Brandon said it got pretty scary there a couple times and I told him, seriously you should wake me up during those times. I must have been exhausted because I wake up when someone drops a pin three apartments away!!! Oh well, all is good. I scared the heck out of Terry and Josh though. Wednesday morning I woke up and almost overslept. Ran into the kitchen to make some coffee and the clock on the microwave and the clock on the stove was blinking. I was like, hmmm electricity must of went off. Reset them, threw on my clothes, made enough coffee for my cup and ran out to go to work. Went to ATM and it was out and I thought, oh well. Parked the car in the parking lot at work. You have to walk a couple blocks to get to our building and got into my office and thought, crap I left my personal phone in the car. Oh well, let me get my computer turned on, read a few emails and go get it. My super was there and we talked about our meeting we had Monday and then I got busy and forgot about my phone. Then I walked to go get my lunch and thought, better go get my phone and then thought, nah I'll eat lunch first and then go get it. Forgot again because I was talking to my coworkers and went back to work. About 4pm I decided to go do some field work and went to my car. Opened the door and was like, oh yeah, my phone is in here. Picked it up and I had 24 missed calls. One from Brandon, Two from my friend Patsey and the rest from Josh and Terry. They were checking to see if I was okay after the storms that hit down there. I didn't even know we had storms because as I said, I overslept. I am so glad my guys love me and are concerned and felt really bad for worrying them. Like Josh said, we gotta just realize it is you and love you for it anyway.

I'm home tonight. I worked Monday so flexed so I could have Friday off making it another 4 day weekend. Things are going amazing right now at work. Of course next week could be another story. Oh well. That's the way it rolls.

tomorrow I am taking my car for a oil change and Terry is taking his truck to the dealership for something, not sure what and then we are going Thrift Store shopping. I love shopping in Thrift Stores and getting fantastic deals. Will probably eat again up there but not sure where.

Gonna go, am watching American Idol. Lots of good talent.
