This is a blog about my every day life. My dreams, my hopes and my past. The things in my life that makes me the person I am today. What makes me happy, sad and excited. This is it. If I say something that offends you, sorry. Start your own blog and say what you want, that's what I did.
My Family
This is my family minus Jeremy. He lives in California. As my son Joshua (the one in camo) said, "Aren't we a good looking bunch"!!! Yes we are!!!
First day of the 25/40! Wow, that was tough, the 25 was anyway. Haven't done the 40 minutes of exercise yet. Still to hot outside and we don't have anything inside. Well, I guess I could have climbed the basement stairs for 40 minutes. That would have been different but would have worked. We'll see but I will get it incorporated. Doing 25 grams of carbs every 4 hours was the tough one. EVERYTHING has carbs in it. For breakfast though I had two poached eggs, one slice whole wheat toast, sliced tomatoes and a steak. Probably should have only ate half the steak but didn't. Didn't have anything else all day because wasn't really hungry and tonight I had an egg sandwich on rye bread, grape tomatoes, raw cauliflower, some bing cherries. It was good but didn't do the every 4 hours I am suppose to do.
We went to the store today and picked up some fruits and veggies along with meats. It is so aggravating when you go to the store. Everything is so expensive. Oh well, you have to buy stuff though so what do we do. I bought a small container of Greek yogurt. I am going to try it, it is suppose to be better for you. I love yogurt but have never tried Greek.
I have been so exhausted this weekend. Had a rough time going to sleep last night but it was because I had two Pepsi Max's after 6pm. It is so sad but I can't do caffeine after 6, really shouldn't in the afternoon. Finally went to bed around midnight and Lamar woke me up to go to the bathroom at 5am. Terry got up and took him out but I was wide awake after it all took place. Went ahead and laid in bed for about an hour and got up. By 11am I was tired again and laid down to take a nap. It felt good but man, I'm still tired. Getting old.
We were going to go to the movies today and see Ted. It looks like such a cute movie but it was in the middle of my nap and I didn't want to get up and go. I wanted to be lazy. Terry has been excited, the Royals are playing two games against the Minnesota Twins. We lost the one this afternoon and looks like we are losing this one too but it's okay.
Well, signing off. Going to church tomorrow and doing Sunday dinner afterwards. Talk to you later.
FINALLY, I remembered to go to my Dr.'s appointment to have my labs read. Had some really good news but also got some bummer news. Nothing I can't take care of myself but still,,,,bummer. Three things I need to work on. Exercise and diet are the two main things but the one that scared me into the other two, I am dangerously close to being Diabetic. She said that she could put me on medicine today but is going to see if I can reverse it all. She gave me some directives and I am going to follow them and see what can happen. I knew I needed to do better on diet and exercise but absolutely do not want to go on any other type of pills. I am going to try the 25/40. What is that you ask??? Have at least 25 grams of carbs every 4 hours and 40 minutes of aerobic exercise a day. I can do it because I have done it before but you know how it goes. She said get 30 grams of protein in too. Lots and lots of dark green leafy vegetables, No starchy stuff. Basically, nothing white and put lots of color on your plate. Plus if it doesn't fly or swim, leave it alone. I have to go back in three months and get checked but that's okay. She's lost a bunch of weight doing this too and she is a big woman. I really like her and have gone to her off and on for about 20 years. I'm going to quit Weight Watchers and follow her plan, she scares me more than Weight Watchers. She wants to put me on more pills. LOL. I have taking medicine more than anything in the world!!!
Oh, and she asked me if I was taking Omega 3 and I told yes I am. Been taking it for about 3 months now and she said it shows and one of the things that made my labs so good. She said I need to be taking some Vitamin D also. She recommended I take a brand called CardioTabs Omega-3 Extra Strength +D3 2x a day. I meant to pick some up today but forgot. She said you can go to their website and order them on line and get like 20% off. I want to see how much they are in the store before I check them out online. Okay guys, it's on. I'm going to try this all and get healthier. That has always been my directive!!!
Of course my husband is a big sabotage-r. He was home when I got back from the Dr's and he wanted to go out and eat. He said he was craving pasta so we went to Olive Garden. I had Eggplant Parmasian, salad and a ton load of bread sticks. Hmm. We both decided we'd get on plan after lunch. I did good tonight. Ate a chicken breast and sliced up a fresh tomato. Terry's friend grows an unforeseen amount of tomatoes a year, this year he planted 3800 plants and he gave Terry a bunch. Man they are good. They are the first of the year I have had and you can't beat them. I've had three today!!!
You know, I am so excited about the new Affordable Health Care Plan being in effect. It means so much to our country right now. I understand how it can take some jobs away but I also see where it would add more jobs. We have needed something for so many years. I have a lot of friends that don't like our President but I do. He has done so much good and I believe he is a genuinely good man. What does this health care plan mean??? In my eyes this is what it means:
And all I can say is we can be very thankful for this!!!
With this I want to end with a quote from someone I hold very dear to my heart and have always admired before her death.
People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give it your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
Exciting stuff happening today with Senate passing the Affordable Healthcare Reform Act!!! It will be interesting to see what happens now. Everyone should have access to affordable health care. You ask what does this decision mean???
I am so glad this day is over at work. It's been grueling. Oh well, I made it through and don't have to go out in the field again with the Bureau Chief.
It's a short and sweet writing tonight. I am home for the weekend because I have a Dr. appt. tomorrow to get my lab results. Talk to you tomorrow.
Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey!!! It was a good day. This morning when I left the apartment it was so nice. No humidity, 60+* out with a nice breeze blowing. It was so nice, not so much when I left the office this evening at 5:30. We are talking 104* at the bank with my car saying 103*. Man, it's going to be a hot summer. Just wish we'd get some rain. We will eventually but not sure when. I praise God we don't live in Colorado though and am praying for those that are in the danger areas of the fires. I was in Denver 3-4 years ago when the wildfires were going on and there was such a haze over the mountains and in the town. My niece is staying out in Breckenridge area right now and I talked to her the other night and forgot to ask her about the fires and stuff.
Today at work my Program Manager, Supervisor and Bureau Chief was in the office. My Program Manager and I were in there together for a while before the other two came in. I have this IPhone and love Pandora Radio. It is really an awesome feature to have and I was listening to Hootie and the Blowfish (Love that Darius Rucker) and jamming out with my earplugs on. I was typing up some narratives, eating my breakfast which consisted of a peanut butter sandwich and drinking my coffee. Anyway a song came on and I was digging it. Jamming out to the hilt. Doing a little chair dancing while I was typing and would reach over and get a bite of my sandwich. All of a sudden someone taps me on the shoulder and scared the bejezzus out of me. It was my program manager. Guess she'd been standing there for a while because she thought I was on the phone. LOL. We both laughed and she gave me a hard time. Oh well, sometimes music is the answer to my anxiety. Plays to the soul.
When I sit and look around I realize that a lot of good stuff happens when I don't focus on all my hard times. People have some great news if you just will listen to them and take them to heart. Plus you can help those that need it most if you will turn away from your problems and focus on how you can make their lives better. I have one friend that became a first time Grandma today. How exciting is that and this little baby boy is going to know what love is all about. He is going to be a character and a half if his grandpa has any say on it. Then another friend called me the other night and asked if I knew of any services that could help out someone they know and love dearly. I told them it might take me a day or two but I would see what I could find out. Found something out last night and told them about it tonight. It was like a weight was lifted off their shoulder. I told them if they would like I would contact these people and help them. We'll see but all is so good. Plus Josh called and a buddy of his called that is in the Army and he just made Sargent. That's pretty exciting news too. There is so much good out there if we would just get our heads out of the sand and realize that the glass is half full.
Well, I'm going to get off here. It's almost Friday and I have Friday off again this week. Need to go to the Dr. and get my lab results. Been messing around and missing appointments. Bad Glenda. Talk to you tomorrow.
Didn't get anything posted yesterday, I was so tired and just not really feeling. Plus didn't really have anything to write. I know, I should have posted a little something. Oh well.
Today is Josh's 25th birthday. It doesn't seem possible. He most definitely is the best thing that ever happened to me. When I had him at 30 years old, I had to slow down. Him and I have been through many a trials and tribulations, has scared the bejeezes out of me and has made me madder than a wet hen, but I wouldn't change it for the world. You know, there are a lot of mothers out there that missed their children growing up because of whatever reason their reasoning was. When their children needed them the most they weren't around, they had more important things to do but now they are older and need their children and their children won't have anything to do with them. Now they cry and whine and blame others for their misfortune when it was them.
I fixed a good meal for Brandon and I tonight. I think he loved it but he never complains about anything I cook. I made him BBQ boneless ribs, baked beans, baked potatoes and buttered corn. I put the ribs in the crock pot this morning and when I got home this evening from work I put them on a cooking sheet and put KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce on them and baked it on them. They weren't bad at all, none of it was.
Didn't sleep real good last night so think I'll go to bed early. Need to do the dishes up and then plan to read and hit the hey. I'll write again tomorrow. Love you guys.
Went to church this morning. First time I've been for a couple of months. Tried a new one because as I said in other posts, I was tired of going to the same church as my ex and his girlfriend. Tried to ignore them but it was really, really hard when they are there. Plus when he was the door greeter he treated me as if I wasn't welcome. His problem, not mine but still. I loved this church. The preacher was like 35 years old and he was outstanding. Needless to say I will be going back
Josh came up and I made his Birthday meal. Fried cube steaks, mashed potatoes and gravy and corn with biscuits. Strawberry jello with fresh strawberries in it. Brownies and unsweet tea. We ate and he slept on the couch which is all good. I like life as is. To bad Brandon couldn't be here too.
It was a hot, hot day but we stayed inside all day. The preacher today said he had good news and bad news. I don't remember what he said the bad news was but the good news was it is 6 months from Christmas Eve. LOL.
Getting off of here. We're watching "She's Out of My League". Fantastic movie and hilarious. Talk to you guys later.
What a nice day. My son accidentally butt dialed me early morning at 2am. He did talk to me and was walking home from the bar. Was glad he used common sense on that part and guess he had fun but took me a little while to go back to sleep. Woke up around 6:30-7:00 because that is what time I wake up normally and it is hard for my internal clock to shut down. No snooze alarm there. Got up and watched my Saturday morning cartoons which are cooking shows and Josh started talking to me via Facebook around 8. Asked him if he wanted me to come down there and take him to his truck because I was wanting to get my cast iron cookware from the house.
My ex bought me a bunch of cast iron skillets and such when I was with him and it made me so mad I refused to use them, putting them in the back of my kitchen cabinets. He bought them so my fried chicken could taste like his grandma's. I never cooked as good as grandma and I tried to tell him I never would be able too. One thing she went out to the chicken yard and killed the chicken, cleaned it, cut it up and fried it in lard that they had gotten from their last hog they butchered. Plus no one can duplicate grandma's or mother's cooking!!! Heck, I can't even cook a frozen pizza as good as my mom did according to Josh!!! Bad thing about it I have to agree!!!
Anyway, I ran down to Garden City and got him and got the pans. The reason I had a renewed interest in them was when I was in Jefferson City we were talking about cast iron and how everyone loved their pans. I asked if you could salvage them if they had become extremely rusty and probably pretty dirty. Yes was the answer I got from the friends, wash them, then scrub them and if needed use salt while scrubbing. I was like "Rock On" I can do that. I have washed them, scrubbed them (salt and steel wool worked great to get the rust off) and am seasoning the skillets right now. I'm a little excited. I have a dutch oven also I need to clean up but all couldn't fit in my dishwasher. Next after I am done with the skillets. I have 4 and I am sure he spent a lot of money on them.
When I got back from Garden City Terry and I went to the grocery store. People hate it when their spouse goes shopping with them but Terry is awesome. We brought them home and I put them all up. Came in and got on the computer for a little bit. Terry was waiting on the game to come on at 1pm and this was around noon. I thought, hmmm, I'm going to go lay down and take a little nap. Then get up and work up the fruit I'd bought at the store. 3 hours later I woke up. Man, I must have been tired but feel good now. Terry told me I must have needed it if I slept that long.
Got up, made a lunch/supper of hotdogs and chips. Worked up the fruit, am seasoning the skillets now and here I am. I love days like this!!! Should probably go out here in a few and water my plants.
Tomorrow is Josh's Birthday dinner. His birthday is Tuesday but since I won't be here I will fix it tomorrow. 25 years from today I was pregnant. I thought June wouldn't be so hot but I remember it was a miserable time with heat. When I was in the hospital with him a cold front came through and was nice, then when I got out of the hospital it turned hot again. We didn't have air conditioner either and our fans broke down. A friend of ours came to me with two box fans and said, happy baby present. I was so thankful for them. Josh's daddy was never home and didn't know how hot and how hard it was to keep my baby cooled off. Josh never had heat rash or anything that summer. Lots of cool bathes and laying by the fan. Sometimes I wonder how I kept him alive. LOL. Not really but I do tell him it was a miracle.
Heading out to water plants. Talk to you tomorrow. Let you know how that day goes too.
You know the last few days I have had a renewed faith in humanity and tonight just sealed the deal. Terry had two vouchers for a free buffet meal at Harrah's. We were going to eat, do a little playing and then come home. It usually doesn't take me long to lose the small amount that I have to gamble but we'd decided to go to the top floor and he gave me some more money to loose. :o)
I was sitting next to him on a .25 slot and decided to cash out and go to another machine. There was a lady that sat down at the machine I was at, played one time and won $5000. I'm like "SERIOUSLY" and went over there and we were laughing with her, talking and congratulating her. I told her I'd just left that machine and she goes I know!!! The ladies came over, gave her the money and she handed me a $100. I was like no, I can't take that and she said take it. I feel guilty. I told her not to feel guilty, that's the way the machines do but thanked her. That was such a nice gesture and she was really funny and cool. Plus it was such a nice jester, she didn't have to do that at all.
We didn't win but made enough to stay and have fun. It's fun to do once in a while but can't do it always.
Yesterday, I came across so many nice strangers. They talked to me at McDonald's, let me out in traffic, in stores. It was unreal how nice people were. I'm telling you, smile at them and say hello and it brings out really nice people. We have so many negative stuff going on in our lives that we need positive.
I haven't been to church for quite some time. One of the reason's is I am tired of going to the same church as my ex goes with his girlfriend. It has been awkward for quite sometime and the only reason why I would go is because I had gotten my friend Carole to start going with me and she loved that church. She still likes it but is tired of going to Garden City and there are some other parts that bother her. Anyway, with all that said I am going to try another church this Sunday. It is a friend of mine's church and I am looking forward to going. I will let you know how things are going.
Welp, I am tired and am going to bed. Talk to you guys later.
Heck of a day. Am home now though and am glad. 3.5 hours to Columbia from Springfield and then 2.5 hours home. Not as tired as some times but still tired. I am finally rested from the heat at the picnic Monday. Man, that was tough on this little fat girl!!!
Just talked to a friend that is in Montreal Canada. That is one thing Facebook is good for, keeping in contact with friends around the globe and seeing pictures. I have a friend in Australia, Dubai Arabia, Germany and other places I can't remember right now. LOL. Brandon is getting ready to go over to China to teach at a satellite MSU campus but of course I won't be able to talk to him over there via Facebook. That is one of the many things that China has regulated. Email will even be a little iffy.
Well, I am getting off here. I am going to bed. Thought I should post something if it isn't just a little something.
Dang it, Betty White's "Off Their Rockers" isn't on tonight. They have a special on Justin Beiber. It is showing him in Norway and the following of girls is unreal. He said he is getting the same thing that the Beatles and Michael Jackson got and he's right. They are screaming, crying, fainting and their are thousands of young girls. Wow. Oh well, guess it will be a second night watching the Walton's reruns.
Work was okay. Lots of paper work done and lots more to do but that is the name of the game. It was okay though. I didn't feel so down trodden as I did last night but tomorrow is a new day. Except I have to be in Columbia tomorrow then I'm going home. Yeah!!!! I am glad to be home.
I called Terry today and asked him to water my plants tonight. Maybe that will bring the rain they are calling for tomorrow. Hasn't done it yet but there's always a first time.
You know on Facebook I post various posters and pictures that I like and tonight I saw a poster that said, "Rudeness is the weak person's imitation of strength". That is so true and I never really thought to much about it but the more hateful and mean a person can be just show's how weak they truly are. That's to bad because I don't see why making someone else feel bad makes them feel superior. Sad thing is everyone knows someone like that in their life.
Well, I am getting off here. Tired and don't know much to write. Talk to you guys tomorrow.
Hi everyone!!! Sorry I didn't write last night but OMG that picnic was a killer. I was so exhausted by the time I got the hotel room and had such a headache. There were about 102 there yesterday at the park. At least the wind was blowing but it was a hot one still. Lots of water and frozen ice pops though to cool you down but still. It was a tough day. This old bird doesn't handle heat like I use to. There was a day and time but it wasn't yesterday between 12-4. LOL!!!
The meeting today was extremely productive. I received my 15 year plaque, only problem I've worked for the state for 16 but that's the way it's always been. It's okay though. Nice plaque I can put up in my office. If I retire in 4 years though I won't get my 20 year plaque. Oh well, life goes on!!!
Before I get to far into this blog I want to wish Sir Paul McCarthy a belated Happy 70th Birthday. His birthday was Monday and I'm thinking he looks dang good for 70!! You be the judge.
I'm pretty tired tonight, still have a headache. I ran to Wal-Mart this evening to pick up some Tylenol and it hasn't touched it. I slept so sound last night though that I woke up and wasn't sure if I was in Springfield or Harrisonville and I was wrong on both counts....I was in Jefferson City. LOL. I'm going to hit the hay pretty early.
Happy Father's Day to all you fathers. Terry enjoyed his day I think. Watched the Royals played St. Louis Cardinals, 15 innings and we won. It was really a good game too. Then he finished the day up with US Open Golf Tournament. He was in kitty heaven. LOL. I made him Roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered corn and biscuits with lemonade to drink. He liked it, I didn't make any dessert because I didn't want to go to the store to pick up stuff to bake. Can we say lazy, no just didn't want to get out into the 90+* humidity and heat!!! Yuck.
Tomorrow I have to go to Jefferson City because we are having a mandatory meeting which is at a park and outside because it is a meet and greet kind of thing with our Division. I'm thinking 97* heat with water and outside fans is not going to make something that is mandatory fun!!! It is from noon until like 4 or something. The hottest time of the day. I'm thinking this was planned in the Spring when it was a nice cool day. If I don't have a heat stroke and kick off I'll let you know how it goes. There may be like 200 people there or so too. Yeah, not fun!!!
Then we stay the night and have another meeting the next day. Then I go down to Springfield, go to work Wednesday, then go to Columbia on Thursday and am going to take Friday off. I'm tired just thinking about it!!!
Going to go to bed, gotta get up early tomorrow. Talk to you later.
Got those dreaded iris's dug up on the east side of the house today. It is so dry out and they were so overgrown that it wasn't that hard getting them up. I worked the soil and sowed 3 envelopes of Zinnia seeds and one envelope of Wildflower mix. If they come up cool and if not all is okay. I am going to work the area and plant tomato plants next year and probably some cucumber and pepper plants. Going to work on the other side too and plant corn and probably strawberries over there. Am excited, I love working in the soil. Next week we will work on the other side. I showed Terry what I had done and he was impressed.
Only bad thing is I can't work like I use to. I had to come in and rest a little and go back out and work more. My friend Carole called me and wanted to know if I wanted to run with her and pick up some tomato cages for her 89 year old mom. I said sure. Now there is a lady I wish I had as much stamina as she does. She mowed her yard up to last year. You can't slow Ruby down if you want to. I love her to death. She had breast cancer a few years ago and had to have surgery. I went to see her after she got out of the hospital and she goes, "You know what those grandkids of mine call me now???" I told her I didn't know and she goes, "One booby Ruby." You have to know Ruby, she found humor in it and it cracked me up. Her grandkids love her to death and she loves them too. She's a cool lady and has a garden at 89 years old.
My friend Nadine came by today too. I haven't seen her for like a year and it was so nice catching up with her. We have been friends since high school and have never lost that friendship. Just seems like now we don't get together like we did. Love Nadine and was so glad to see her!!! I am going to share my Iris's with her. Hope we get some that come back when we plant them.
Tomorrow is another day and I will write again. Going to quit for the night!!! Talk to you later.
Well, today was better than yesterday but it usually is!!! Mom use to always say to go to bed and tomorrow will be better. Of course it always was. Lost another 2.8, making it a total of 7.2 of weight lost. If I would hit it better I'd lose more but I am just glad I am losing.
Terry and I went up to Lee's Summit to a music venue they were having. We were asking the crowd if they had registered to vote with a couple other people. Anyway, they were playing 60's and 70's music and it was fun. It was nice meeting one of the ladies, we knew the other one. Went out and ate at Jason's Deli afterwards. They have the best salad bar of any I know of. I love the hummus on there. That is something I love and I need to try making it because I know it isn't hard at all. My friend Jan makes the best hummus I've ever had. That is one of the things I miss about the NW District office is our covered dish meals. There would be some good food there.
It is so good to be home. I need to water my plants and will do that in the morning. Things look pretty dry. Oh well, I will have to remember to have Terry water this week while I am gone.
You know when Terry and I went out to eat I have to smile. When the four of us go somewhere to eat, trying to decide what everyone likes is tough sometimes. Terry always says, "Tell you what, let's drive out to hospital. I am sure the cafeteria is open and I am sure we will find something everyone can eat!!!" He's teasing but sad thing is, he's right!!! LOL
Well got my cell phone to turn back on. Took it to work and a friend of mine there has an IPhone also. She got it to turn on and showed me what I needed to do. She also showed me some tips and tricks with the phone. Pretty cool. She told me to go on line and type in IPhone tips and tricks and learn stuff about your phone. Going to do that after I get off here!!!
Going to get off. Terry is watching the Cardinals and Royals tonight. Right now we are winning 3-2, the bottom of the 8th. Hope, hope, hope. Well, I'm off here. Talk to you tomorrow.
Seriously, is there a full moon coming up or a new moon??? This day was a day from hell. I won't go through everything but the young man I was talking about yesterday, well the address was bogus. Nothing there, just a parking lot maybe??? Then I was looking for another guy and that address was a junk yard and the phone number was a fax number. I have been doing this job to long and am tired. It is time to retire, wait, I have 51 months. To, to long.
Maybe I just need a vacation. I would like to go to a spa for like 5 days and relax. That would be nice. Away from everyone but my husband and I. Yep, that would be nice. Oh and of course Lamar too. He's my snuggle bunny. I miss him too when I am down here.
Well, I'm off here. I didn't eat anything but a muffin this morning and I was to hungry when I did eat supper. I am going to get off here and maybe either go to bed or eat something else. I'm still hungry I think, but of course I don't feel real good either. Don't usually feel real good when I have a day like today was. Yuck. Oh and plus I can't get my phone to turn on, at all. Will have to take it to an Apple store. Grrr on IPhone's, except I liked it when I got it.
Mandisa and Toby Mac can always get me out of my funk!!!
Slept like a baby last night. Forgot to set the alarm and almost was late for work but felt very rested. Got a lot done too as far as paper work. Even though I hate doing it!!! Oh well. Had to deal with some real window lickers today though!!! Frustration from the nth degree!!!
Received a new Syphilis reactor today. The young man is 24 years old and was at Cox North, a hospital that is the psychiatric ward. The first thing we do is call the hospital or Dr's office to make sure the client has been adequately treated so we know what we need to focus on first, which is making sure treatment has been administered. When I called the Infection Disease nurse at the hospital she could give me a little information but nothing on treatment or why they tested him because the records are blocked for her to see. He was dismissed from the hospital Monday so she gave me the name of the attending physician and also was kind enough to give me his telephone number. I called and spoke with his nurse. She said she remembered that the client was treated but didn't know with what, I needed to call the medical records department at the hospital. There is where I cringed but went a head and did it.
With my job, when I call for medical information on a client, we are exempt from HIPPA so they have to tell us what we need. The reason why we are exempt from HIPPA is that it is the law they give us the information. The diseases and virus' we deal with are a Public Health threat and I am trying to stop the spread of the disease or virus. I know that and legal counsel has prepared us a letter to explain to the medical professional we deal with, no matter what position they are in. Most people know this, especially if they are infectious disease nurses but a lot don't know it that work in Medical Records departments. I understand this and will send what they need me to send in order for me to get the needed information and can go on with my job.
Okay now, I started this procedure at 9am. It was around 9:30 when I called the medical records department. This guy answers and I explain what I need. He tells me he needs an authorization and gives me a fax number. No problem, I fax it to him. Waiting for a phone call and going on with other items on my desk and a little over an hour I still haven't heard from him. I call him and he said he never received the fax and gives me a fax number not even close to the one he initially gave me. I said no, you gave me this number. He said not a problem but could I re-fax it to the number he initially gave me. I said yes and I re-faxed. About 10 minutes later he calls me. Says everything looks fine but I didn't put that the fax was to go to Cox Medical Records, I just put Medical Records and could I re-fax. I'm like SERIOUSLY but I play his game and re-fax. Waiting around and after lunch I call him again because I hadn't heard from him. Guess what....the fax didn't go through but I know it did because I stood next to the fax machine until it said it had transmitted. I repeated the number that I faxed it to and he said that was right. I then RE-FAX one more time. Waiting around again and he hasn't called me so I call him AGAIN. He said everything looks good but with my letter and all he is going to have to give it to his supervisor and she will have to give me the information I need!!! This is like 2:30 and I'm beyond mad.
Still keeping my cool and being as professional as I can, I get the name of his supervisor and hang up. It's 3pm, I'm wanting to get this part of my case taken care of because I am going out to talk to the young man tomorrow. Hadn't heard from the supervisor so I call her. Tell her who I am, what I am needing, who I've talked to and what he told me. She has nothing on her desk. By this time I'm not mad, I'm beyond that because of all I've had to deal with and all I want to know is what the guy was treated with and when. By the time I had pulled the State card on her and used my authority voice she was very apologetic and said she'd call me right back. She went and got the fax, called me and got me the information I needed. I had to tell her how to read the record though because she was clueless. Something that should have been completed by 11am at the latest took me all day to deal with. Never did find out why the young man was treated but do know with the psych wing they give them the gauntlet of testing on STD's.
I will let you guys know what I find out tomorrow. The young man is homeless so it is going to be a challenge to find him but he is to follow up at the Kitchen Clinic. That is a clinic for the homeless population to get medical care, and anything else they need to be fairly productive in their environment. I speculate what is going on with him but don't know. A lot of homeless will use sex to be able to stay in a nice bed or home over night. Especially in the winter time to find a warm place to sleep. That is probably how he got Syphilis or he may be selling his body for money. He may have mental issues because he came out to his family which could be extremely religious and that sent him over the edge. Or he may have just gone up to the psych ward and said he was going to kill himself or whatever and they admit him and it gives him at least 3 days of a bed and food. It's hard to say but I will find out tomorrow.
I do love my job though, just sometimes it is so trying. My supervisor is going to shadow me in the field tomorrow but she loves this kind of stuff. It is fun to hear each individual's story. We'll see.
Well, going to sign off here and see if I can't get my weave on!!! LOL. Talk to you tomorrow.
I woke up at 4am this morning and could not go back to sleep if my life depended on it. I am trying to stay awake until at least 9pm before I go to bed but I could do it to it right now. Man, about 3pm this afternoon I started going down with energy level. Not getting much better the later it gets. I think I can, I think I can.
Spent today catching up on e-mails, phone calls, and paper work (you all know how much I love that frigging paperwork) Think that is why I went down so early. To much chair time except I did go take a little walk.
You know I have been hearing more and more about my friends that meet others on the internet. That scares me because there are so many weird-o's out there and it is like the ultimate blind date. You honestly don't know that person, what they actually look like and what their intentions are. I hated blind dates with a passion when I was set up with them in my earlier days. The blind date story always reminds me of a story when Josh was like 11. A cousin of his was going on a blind date and he wanted to know why she was going with someone blind. He goes, like that would be fun, what would you do??? Go dancing??? Then he mocked the date. LOL. We preceded to explain to him what a blind date actually was. Children are so funny. That was like when I use to say I wanted a greenhouse and he told me "Mama, I'll paint your house green". He was like 5-6 when that statement was made.
You know what they call 500 cows in Indiana without any nipples??? The Indian nippleless 500!!! Sorry, that cracked me up!! I loved that joke when my husband told it to me yesterday. I was telling them at work and someone gave me another one. You know why King Kong climbed the Empire State Building? He was to big to go up on the elevator!!! Confess, you did smile a little even if it was on the inside!!!
I tried to do a little on my afghan tonight but am to tired to concentrate on anything. This thing doesn't take much concentration. You just type your thoughts and go with it. No drama, just thoughts. Well sometimes a little drama but not in complete sentences. LOL. People cease to amaze me.
Well, I'm getting off here. Not sure what I am going to do after thins. Been looking at my genealogy too.
Interesting, found out that the Thompson line come from Scotland and England. I may have posted that last night. I can't remember, I'm tired.
Back down in Springfield getting ready to start the work week. Sure was nice being home but all is fine. Gotta work so just as well make the best of it.
We got our much needed rain this morning and Brandon said it rained down here all day. It was reported that we got around a inch and a half. Like I said, it was much needed and my plants looked like happy campers when I left this afternoon. Of course it was getting humid and that is the only bad thing about our weather is humidity.
Starting some new projects and they are exciting. I was on Facebook tonight and I am getting real bored on it so am going to have to do something different. Have a new afghan pattern to work on on a baby blanket. Am excited about it, got me some new yarn. Then I decided to start my genealogy up again and resubscribed to Ancestry.com and low and behold I immediately found some family members I had given up hope for. Found out tonight that the Thompson name has come from Scotland. I remember mom and dad telling me that when I was little but never had real proof. England and Scotland and I would say mom's side is from England but not sure. Will find out. Finding your genealogy is like reading history books and solving mysteries. It is so much fun.
Am also planning on starting a webpage. May not be until next week but still. Have a domain name for one of them so there ya go. I am going to work on one for our school in Lowry City. LCBulldogs.com won the vote but don't try to look it up yet, I haven't even started yet. LOL
I think 3 projects are enough for me right now. Just wish work would slow down so I didn't have to stress over that. It's getting crazy because I am covering more territory than my regular territory. That is what separates the men from boys or the crazies from the crackheads. LOL.
Getting off of here right now. Going to choice a little Van Morrison for your listening pleasure tonight. When I was driving down here the DJ on 90.1 (one of my favorite KC radio stations) was playing his music. I love blues, smooth jazz, and just about any music you hand my way. Just no appreciation for Opera at this time.
Well, back to Springfield tomorrow and I have mixed emotions about that. I have so enjoyed being home with my family these last two weeks and having to get back into my routine is going to be tough. Well, not tough but maybe a little trying. It will be fine, at least I have a job and so many others are without one or wish they had a better one. Heck, I wish I had a better one. Do we ever have that perfect job or get paid enough money??? No matter what job I have had or what I am doing it's never enough or what I would really like to do. Oh well.
Once I get back down there though I will work more on my weight. Even though I lost 2 pounds more the last time I weighed in this week has been a wash. I have got to get back on the wagon, instead of dragging one leg and sometimes both legs as I am riding along.
I go tomorrow and get my lab results read to me from my Dr. I am looking forward to it and hope to find out good news or what I should be doing differently to make my health better. That is what all this work towards losing weight is all about. I want to feel better, have more energy and even better mobility. I'll let you know what I find out tomorrow, maybe if I remember.
Have been watching some really good movies this weekend. Free HBO and Cinemax, I told Terry Happy Birthday. He laughed and said, you ordered it for me didn't you. I told him you know I did. LOL. We've watched "Cinema Verite", a true story about the first reality TV show The American Family. I loved it and am going to rent it again because we didn't see all of it. The next one we saw was "Knight and Day". Loved that one too, very funny and high speed chase stuff. It was with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. "Due Date" I've seen that stupid movie 100 million times but the guys wanted to see it one more time and of course I laughed at it again, just like I'd seen it for the first time. Then we watched "Popper's Penguin's" with Jim Carrey. Typical Jim Carrey movie, goofy but was good. Oh I forgot, we saw "Benny and Joon" also. It has Johnny Depp and Aidan Quinn, I love him as an actor. Something about his voice. He was in "Legend's of the Fall" as Brad Pitt's brother, he played a politician that loved his brother's first wife and married her. That was another good movie. Anyway, Terry is watching some SciFi movie "The Book of Eli", it's not bad. Anything has to be better than "The Gray" that we watched last weekend. I hated that movie with a passion. Anyway, we have enjoyed free HBO and Cinemax weekend.
Next weekend will probably be a quiet one, even though it is Father's Day weekend. We will do whatever Terry wants to do but of course we both are so laid back doing this is just what the both of us want to do. We went to the T-Bone's game last night. The T-Bone's are a minor league team in the KC area and the tickets are so reasonable. It was a full house last night but of course the Royal's were out of town and they had some of the KC A's players there to recognize. I didn't really remember any of the players but Terry loved it. We were 4 row's up from the first base and was not far from Frank White, the first base coach for the T-Bones. It was a good game even though we lost. They played against the Wichita Wingnuts. The fireworks after the game were fantastic. We all had a good time.
Getting off of here. I am tired and going to bed. Have had a headache and stomach not really feeling that great all day. Talk to you tomorrow.
Today was an awesome day. Got my flowers watered, Lamar to the vet's office and got flea medicine all pets. Vet said that flea's are really bad this year and we are going to have to de-flea pretty hot and heavy until fall. Went and visited with a dear friend today, ate lunch with her and as I was leaving the restaurant another dear friend was in there and visited with her. Came home, did a little bit on my genealogy and have found some exciting extra stuff on my Thompson side of the family. Yeahhhh. Wish I was retired and bringing in a good chunk of change but aren't so all I can do is what I can do. LOL.
Tomorrow is Terry's birthday and we are all going to go watch the T-Bones, KC's minor league baseball team. They are playing the Wichita Wingnuts and I'm excited about that too. I have never gone to watch them before so it will be a first for me. Terry likes the minor league teams as much as the major league. Then Sunday I will fix his birthday dinner. Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, some veggie, chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. I told him EVERYONE gets their favorite meal and he said that was his. Works for me!!!
Haven't gotten much done today and tomorrow will be a wash too. Oh well, I didn't realize that next week is Father's Day too. I found out when a friend of mine called to invite me to her church. I told I couldn't this Sunday but will next. She was busy next Sunday so we are going to go the following one. Plus she invited us to her house for the 4th of July. Said they have a bird's eye view of the fireworks at the park. It will be fun and am excited about it also.
Well, am going to sign off from here. Don't know much but am excited about all that is happening right now in my boring little life. I hope you guys listen to this youtube video I've posted if you haven't ever listened to any of the others. I posted it on Facebook too and I absolutely loved this. Was never a great fan of Mr. Rodgers but this is an awesome tribute. Enjoy.
Good, good day. Am glad that I will be back to the office in Springfield next week. It has been a heck of a two weeks up here. Like I have said, it is good seeing my friends but am so ready to get back to the office.
We are watching British Rockers on PBS tonight and it has been great. Of course I don't like when they break in and want you to pledge to keep the station on. Lulu just sang "To Sir with Love" and the Troggs are singing "Wild Thing" The lead singer for the Animals earlier looked like an old truck driver but he still had it going on. Sang a couple of old songs like "House of the Rising Sun". It's all good.
Not much happening in my life lately. Trying to figure out the vacation thing. I know I am needing one really bad right now.
Going to sign off. This is my Friday this week so I have a four day weekend. A little like a mini vacay!!! Rock the frick on!!!
Well, I learned a little more today about "Host Name", "Domain Name" and WordPress today. A really good friend of mine at the Independence office was talking to me about Webpage design. He is self taught and has a business going on. We love giving each other a hard time but he's a really interesting person. Such a good dad to his sons. He has always been into Astronomy, rocks, cartoon books and other interesting things. He's been learning Webpage design for quite some time and I had talked to him about it before. I'm going to check farther into it and he said anytime I need help to holler at him. Can we say,,,,excited!!! Oh, and thank you Pat in case you read this!!!
Not going to write much. Terry and I are home alone tonight and I am really tired. Have a call into a good friend and will wait for her to call me back. I only have one more day until I am off for 4 days in a roll. Yea Haw!!! I'm ready.
Another good friend of mine in the Independence office gave me a purple shamrock. I have two green one's that are doing great. I can't wait for it to take off because it is deep burgundy or maybe purple and has an almost light pink bloom. I love my plants. Jan gave me a bunch of starts off her plants that her mom has. I would love to see their house, I am sure it is full of plants.
Finalizing my last few days in the Independence office. It is really nice seeing my old friends and saw a really good friend today, Brittney. I haven't seen her like in forever and was good laughing and talking with her. Also had lunch with an oldie but moldy friend. She is so awesome, Trina is her name. We went to Noodles and Co at Independence Center and it was so frigging good. They have one in Independence, one in Lee's Summit, one of the Plaza and one on Zona Rosa but none in Springfield area. :o( If you are around one you need to check it out. Really, really good and the price is right too.
Well, it has been a pretty good day. I met the young man today that I tried to hook up with the other day. Sad, sad story but hopefully I have hooked him up with some services that will help him out and he will be able to get on with his life. He is the young man that was in the train wreck and his fiance' died. Good, good kid. I see where his mom is concerned about him though.
Came home tonight and Terry had supper ready for me. It was so good, country ribs and chicken breast on the grill with baked tater tots. Also green beans with ham seasoning. Really, really good.
Well, I can see where the moon is full or something is going on. Some really strange stuff is happening. Crazy people are contacting me that have told me to never contact them because I'm crazy and other crazies are doing really crazy things that seriously could be life threatening. Well I can't worry about it but I do. Not the crazy that is texting me but the other person. She concerns me because she is so trusting and naive, an individual that has been very sheltered in her childhood and then was married into a very protected environment. People like that fall into scams because people are not the way they seem. Oh well, like I said I can't worry about it.
The most I can do for my friend is simply be his friend. Henry David Thoreau
Well, so much for the Weight Watchers diet. Today was a total wash. Baked a ham with cloves and before it was done made a brown sugar and pineapple glaze. Also had Au gratin potatoes and green beans with bacon. Buttermilk biscuits, deviled eggs, red bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes too. Then made some snickerdoodles cookies and made from scratch cake brownies with a chocolate glaze over it. Yeah, I was in the mood and glad that's over with. Now I am going to have to get rid of the cookies and brownies. Maybe the neighbors. It was all good and Terry enjoyed having it all ready for him when he got home from the Royals game. Of course I think he'd ate a ton load of hotdogs, peanuts and maybe a beer too. Nothing is better then a beer and a hotdog at the ball park.
I need to rest after the day I just had. I got the dishes done and came into the living room. Terry is watching Alaska with Liam Nissan and isn't really a movie I like. I like a lot of his movies but this one is more a survivalist thing and I'm not much into it. I hate to watch suffering and dieing but Josh and Terry seem to be enjoying it. Lamar is sound a sleep. He jumped a couple of times when the wolves were killing some of them. Yuck, I jumped too.
Going to work in Independence this week but don't have to next which I am really glad. I want to get back down there, I really really like the dynamics. Oh well, it all pays the same though.
Well, I am going to get off here, wolves just got another one. I really don't like this kind of movie. Yuck Ola!!!
Day was pretty good. We went up to Lee's Summit to the street fair there. It was pretty impressive and had lots of vendors. We talked to the Democratic booth, we are going to start volunteering at different events. It will be fun and it is nice being around like people that believe the way you do and for the same purpose.
We're watching a movie right now, The Beach Boys An American Experience. Excellent movie, I'd never seen it and really tells the story of Brian Wilson and the rest of the band. Their dad was a real arse but their mom was a sweetheart and believed in her boys.
Not much going on and nothing pressing on my mind that I feel the need to write about. Went to my Weight Watcher's meeting Friday to weigh in and am proud to say I have been going for 4 weeks now and have lost 5 pounds. I am happy with losing at least 1 pound a week and if I lose 5 pounds a month for a year we're talking 60 pounds total in a year. That would be all good. I need to focus more on following it 100% and would probably loose faster and my inches would show better. I did buy a couple of the books to help with figuring out my points. I have lost 50 pounds on the program and quit thinking I could do it myself and we see what has happened there. LOL. I am going to have my son air up my bike tire for me and ride my bike while I'm home this week. It will work, just wish that it was as easy to lose as it is to gain!!!
I did make a cake this week that was fabulous. It is so easy and so low cal it is pathetic. I beefed up a Weight Watcher's recipe. You take a dry Angel Food Cake Mix (not the cheap kind it has to be Duncan Hines or something like that~not the no name. The no name cake didn't turn out right) and a large can of crushed pineapple in it's own juice (NOT heavy syrup). Pour the dry cake mix in a bowl, open the pineapple and pour the can in the dry mix. Mix up and pour in a floured 13x9 inch pan. Bake @ 350* for about 30 minutes. Take out of the oven and let cool. When cool take a 8 oz. tub of thawed sugar free cool whip, 1 box of dry instant vanilla pudding and 1 small can of crushed pineapple in it's own juice. Pour those together and fold. When mixed up ice the top of the cake with it and put cake in fridge. The cake is better the next day but after a few hours it is okay to eat. It is so good, so refreshing and so not as fattening as other cakes. Weight watchers says a piece is like 3 points. We love it and especially in the summer time.
Well, with that said I am signing off. I will talk to you guys later and hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Don't know much to write today. Was in the office in Independence all day. Good day and sad day. I like my job and all but I am sad sometimes for the people too. Went to a house today looking for a guy that was to be in my office at 230. he was a no show and a lady answered the door. Maybe in her late 40's said he wasn't there and doesn't live there anymore. Upon talking to her found out she was his mother, he is bi-polar and also was in a terrible wreck. was hit by a train, his girlfriend was killed and best friend paralyzed. She started crying saying he's never been right since the wreck. The reason I am looking for him was because he'd went to sell his blood at a plasma center and is HIV+. My heart cries for his mama, she said he is her oldest child and was crying. I hate when people hurt so, especially a mama for her baby boy.
Just not in the mood to write. I am going to go and maybe tomorrow will be better.
