Tonight I am starting my blog with an apology. I didn't get anything posted last night. We went to the wedding in Springfield but didn't go to the reception and came on home. When we finally pulled into the driveway in Harrisonville it was 9pm and we unloaded the car and truck and then just sat down and relaxed. Terry was really tired and if you don't know it my normal bedtime is 9-9:30pm. So needless to say I was tired too and I thought~oh well, I'll double post tonight. So here I am, double posting. It may be a long one tonight and then again, it may not. :o)
First off I want to tell you about the wedding. Oh my gosh, I have never been to anything so beautiful. I never cry at a wedding and cried twice!!! What's the worse thing, I didn't even really know the couple that well. I had met the groom through Brandon because he is a good friend of Brandon's. The bride I didn't know and had only met the groom's parents a couple of times and really, really love them. Good people. Anyway, back to the wedding. To begin with they had a stringed quartet playing while everyone was coming into the church. 3 Violin's and a Cello. Oh my gosh, it was goregous and the dresses of the congregation were beautiful too. It was a formal wedding and some of the outfits were beautiful. Of course the groom and bride were in their upper 20's so most of the crowd were college friends and high school friends. Some of the outfits and hair styles were fabulous. I didn't have a formal on but I wore black slacks with a really nice, sparkly top and wore a shawl for a wrap with heels. Terry told me I looked beautiful. LOL. He was quite dapper himself.
Anyway, the service started and in come the wedding party followed by the little flower girls and the ring bearer. That little guy was adorable. After raising a little boy my heart goes for those little guys. He was chunky and looked around 4 years old. Had thick, wavy hair parted on the side and mom or dad had put gel in it to keep those unruly locks down. He had a little tux on and looked so handsome. During the service he was getting bored holding that pillow and turned around to look at the crowd. The little girls were being very good and standing there watching the ceremony. As he was turned around looking at us he was leaning on the prayer bench....picking his nose. I am sure that the parents were mortified but couldn't do anything about it. Then after he had finished "digging for the gold" and looking at his little finger a couple of times he started tossing the pillow in the air and finally rested it on the railing. By this time one of the little flower girls, probably around 7 or so placed her little hand on his shoulder and he redirected his attention to the wedding. She kept her little hand there during most of the ceremony. So, so cute.
Then the bride and groom started saying their vows. They were so nervous and she started crying saying hers. We all started tearing up. It was with such love in her voice when she repeated them. Terry said he even got a little misty eyed. Then Brandon sang with another young lady. Oh my gosh!!! He did such a beautiful job. I cannot explain how beautiful it was and they both complimented each other so much. People were coming up to Brandon afterwards complimenting him and telling them they were so impressed with his voice. He made Josh Gorbin sound monotone!!! The string quartet even gave him their card. I told him he should consider it, I am sure they play at several upclass weddings and the wedding parties are looking for singers. He is awesome. I told him it could pay the electric bill. LOL. So, so good.
I found out yesterday that a dear friend had passed away. For those of you that are from this area and ever went to the Town Tavern in Urich, you knew Jr. and Jean Anderson. Jr. passed away at the home yesterday morning at 80 years old. I am not sure what happened but when I read the obituary the family suggested contribution to the American Kidney Society. After I divorced Josh's dad we left Urich and I kept in touch with Jr. and Jean with Christmas cards but had lost track. They moved to Liberty MO to be closer to their daughter up there. They were good, good people also. You couldn't get a better hamburger than the one from the Town Tavern. That and a good cold beer always went down so smooth. Jr. was teaching me how to play pool too when I would come down there during the week.
John, Josh's dad and I lived in a building like 4 doors up from the tavern on Main Street in Urich. Jr. helped us get the loan to buy the building and they really liked us. When I was pregnant with Josh they would always tell me to give them a call if I went into labor and they would take me to the hospital because alot of the times I was left at the apartment with no way to go anywhere. One thing I remember the most about the tavern was Jr. would have fish fries and everyone would bring a covered dish. Fun times were had there. I plan to send Jean a card and will also try and make it up to see her in Liberty one of these days soon. Maybe next week. I will have another day off with Martin Luther King's birthday on Monday. Yes, I'm spoiled.
Went to church today and really enjoyed it. Oh, and guess what!!! Weighed this morning to see if I'd lost anything this week with my new exercise~healthy eating regime and I did. 7 pounds!!! I won't be able to keep that pace up because your body doesn't work that way but if I can lose 1~2 pounds a week in 52 weeks I will have lost 52-104 pounds. That would rock BIGTIME!!! Well, wait a minute....I don't want to say lost because I always seem find what I lost. I want to say "be without" my excess weight. LOL. Hope I don't fail myself but don't think I will.
Josh came by today because it is your typical Sunday ritual. He didn't come until after lunch but always can find something to eat, never a problem for Josh. I made pork steaks and had green beans/corn and that was all we had. One thing I have started doing is not eating until I am stuffed. Never go for seconds and just have one plate, try not to eat to many bad carbs, only good ones and no sweets. It's working. Also trying to drink more water. It's all good. Had a sweet, juicy golden delicious apple here a few minutes ago and it took care of my sweet tooth.
Well, Terry is watching the playoffs tonight and I am on this silly computer because that is the way the Gash's roll. I couldn't ask for a better life though, I am so content that I don't know what to do with myself. Oh, another before I forget it, I didn't get any pictures of yesterday but will get someone to take my pic next week so I can post my new doo.
I will talk to you guys later because as I have said previously, I am addicted to Words With Friends and need to get back to the game so I can annihilate my opponents. It is a game that is on FaceBook and I am sure it is on other places too. It is a Scrabble type game and I love, love, love Scrabble along with Crossword Puzzles. I use to do Crossword Puzzles all the time. Once a month I would buy myself a new puzzle book. Dell was my favorite, but haven't done it in a long time!!!
Talk to you guys tomorrow, I promise!!!
